Lannister
Some of Dhon's "readymade" quotes,"If you see what makes life easy for an international team is the kind of domestic cricket… if you see the Australian first-class cricket, it is very good, which means the players who come up from the ranks of domestic cricket or first-class cricket have already got good exposure of playing cricketers who have played international cricket or are playing international cricket at that point of time. I feel that way Australian cricket is blessed.""I think the trend is changing slowly. Even if you see the batsmen nowadays, they have been part of the side for quite some time and we have had to groom them. I feel the same applies to the bowlers. We may not have the luxury of just picking up the complete product to come into international cricket and start delivering from the very first game. It is important to identify talent and at the same time give them games quite quickly so that they get that exposure of international cricket. And we also see get to see how they handle pressure and the areas where they need to improve."After making that particular statement, he immediately goes on to say,Rishi's presence was ignored when Dhoni was asked for a possible combination. "Most likely it will be three-two [quicks-spinners]," he said. "Because we don't really have a seaming allrounder so most likely it will be a three-two combination."I just stopped reading there. Why pick a guy when you are not going to give him a chance to play? His whole life is just one big contradiction. WTF is wrong with this guy? Here's the link who want to read his essay,http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-india-2015-16/content/story/960401.html doccricket and vishalvirsingh 2 Link to comment

Correct me If I am wrong just in the previous series vs SA didn't he say Gurkeerat has just been included in the squad and he has to wait for his turn to be part of the playing 11. Also Rahane was benched for the longest time before he got a chance to play. Link to comment

Ironhide
"Because we don't really have a seaming allrounder so most likely it will be a three-two combination." Hardik Pandya is the best option and is selected for T20 squad, Did Dhoni forget him after last year IPL. Even if Rishi Dhawan is not as good, at least try him for few games, loss is guaranteed, just try some new players on the way. express bowling and doccricket 2 Link to comment
beautifulgame
That was a really ridiculous interview .Really disappointing from DhoniThe way he has spoken about Rishi Dhawan is really pathetic. Great way to give confidence to someone who is new to international cricket. adi B, Bigg Brother, BlueBee and 3 others 6 Link to comment

Pagalpanti
He has become a very negative influence on new-comers. What sort of confidence will a player like Rishi Dhawan feel, when his captain is saying they don't have a seaming all-rounder. I mean come on, he sounds like someone who is prepping for excuses. MSD is finished. Having him till WT20 will finish of our chances as well. Mosher, BlueBee, adi B and 1 other 4 Link to comment
tweaker
Dhoni just wants to play with a certain set of players. He does not want to encourage young players. He will make sure that new players are not selected in playing 11 even in dead rubbers .Dhoni 's behaviour has became pathetic & has become a major block in our team becoming world class. doccricket 1 Link to comment

He must be the only captain who pulls down his own players in press conferences. G_B_
I mean look at Rahane in the last series in SA. Once came at 3 another time at 4. Had opened in Zim. Sometimes comes at 6.Now those saying that Rahane is not LOI material, I dont dismiss their point. They are probably right. But at the very least give Rahane a proper run in one position. You can expect him to perform at his best level if you keep switching his position. It was sort of same with him in the test cricket as well. Number 6 then number 5 then number 3. Atleast the poor guy appears to have bedded down in test cricket. doccricket 1 Link to comment
The Realist
No more tinkering: India can't afford a repeat of MS Dhoni's indecisiveness against AustraliaIn India’s ODI series against South Africa, Dhoni appeared to lack the courage of his convictions. He had called out Ajinkya Rahane on the previous tour of Bangladesh, saying the Mumbai batsmen was not suited for the middle order on slow subcontinental pitches and needed to wait his turn since the top three in order – Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – were set (the stats backed Dhoni up on this one). Yet in the very next one-day series against South Africa, Rahane was not only back in the team but batting at No 3, thereby pushing Kohli down to No 4. And then after two games, and two half-centuries, he was moved down to No. 6, a position he was not supposed to be suited for, while Dhoni slotted himself in at No 4.It didn’t end there. Rahane was back up to No 4 for the fourth game, as if the team was picking its batting order by playing musical chairs in the dressing room.Dhoni also stated he wanted to bat up the order, but also that he couldn’t because nobody else had the experience to bat at No 6 or No 7, so he did both over the course of the series. Captain Cool had transformed into the Tinkerman. All of which is to suggest Dhoni is not only uncertain of his best XI but also how to get the best out of the players as a combination. Against Australia, Dhoni will not only have to figure out how to integrate a handful of new faces in the squad - Manish Pandey, Gurkeerat Man Singh, Rishi Dhawan and Barinder Sran – but he has to do so in the absence of a couple of dependables in Suresh Raina and Mohammad Shami. Will Dhoni back Pandey or Gurkeerat to play the finisher at No 6, or will he resign himself to that slot even though he knows that he is no longer as brutally effective as he used to be? One thing to keep in mind is that the only way for a player to gain experience as a finisher is to do it. If the next generation is to be groomed, they can’t start fast enough. To do that successfully, India need Dhoni to be at his clear-headed best. Experienced players can often figure things out for themselves but rookies generally need their roles in the team to be well defined. Ideally, they need to feel they have the backing of their captain too.The stakes are high for Dhoni personally too. Excluding the abandoned West Indies series in India in 2014, India has won only one of its last five ODI series under his leadership, losing to South Africa home and away, New Zealand away and most tellingly to Bangladesh for the first time ever. They failed to win a single ODI series in 2015.Hopefully the tinkering against South Africa has resolved the dilemmas in Dhoni’s mind and he is now comfortable with how the pieces of this team fit together, because you can be sure Australia will punish any hesitation or uncertainty. Dhoni, and India, can’t afford to vacillate any further.http://www.firstpost.com/sports/no-more-tinkering-india-cant-afford-a-repeat-of-dhonis-indecisiveness-against-australia-2578230.html doccricket 1 Link to comment
express bowling
I find this really strange.....Dhoni might not have a high opinion of Rishi Dhawan, I can understand that ...but what is the point of demoralizing the kid in public even before his international career has started ? Also...what about Hardik Pandya ? Looks like a big talent to me. Link to comment

philcric
From one of the comments of that cricinfo article .."He (Dhoni) keeps giving these complicated explanations for simple questions..."I agree with the above. I don't doubt Dhoni's integrity, but over 7 years of captaincy in all formats has taken a toll on him. He hardly makes any sense in the interviews these days. doccricket 1 Link to comment
maniac
So there goes the hopes of seeing hardik pandya....killed 2 birds with one stone.... Must be so embarrassing for rishi.also didn't he say that binny was the best seaming allrounder in India a few months back clearly his initial captaincy success was luck+ having a good team becoming clearer by the day..... So no more statements like MSD has lost it..... He never had it to begin with. Ankit_sharma03, doccricket and Shivaji bhonsle 3 Link to comment
gakgupta
Most of the Indian captains goes insane at the fag end of their career.........But this just ridiculous ..... Good that Dravid / Ganguly (the captains when he started his career) didn't think of him the same......Looking at his technique anybody could have easily avoided him.....worst technique in the cricketing history....He is making excuses even before the series started...Now no one should blame India for loosing because dhoni has already said that talent is not readymade in India and he is given 3 new players adi B, Ankit_sharma03 and maniac 3 Link to comment

MCcricket
What a retard, with Srini gone n now that people can look logically behind the hype n facade of Dhoni a champion ODi captain n player mostly at home n useless test captain, worst ever , worst nurturer of talent, biased,a pawn to mama, also a worst motivator. He is absolutely wrong this present gen is the best ever, the players have learned to bat abroad more quickly n more effectively then previous gen, this is the best lot of fast bowlers we ever had , best fielders we ever had, what a looser.I challenge him to quit game n hand over captaincy from a looser to afigher like Kohli n see the results we have seen the last year loosing ODi n then Virat winning the test.He knows in his heart that his luck has run out also h never ever had the ability to bat like a proper batsmen n now he also lost his stroke play so useless.Rahane , Virat, Pujara comparatively have matured faster n have performed better then the past gen, Same with the present lot of bowlers Ashwin , Shami, now with Ishant bowling well we have a good attack, but he never built a pool or bench n kept on repeating mistakes what n idiot, proves the old adage, idiot, embaressing his team mates, hack who was lucky , worse ever test captain, worst motivator of men, n an idiot maniac and tweaker 2 Link to comment
