PBN
The kid is putting up impressive performances and is likely to overtake Dhawan in Tests for sure and perhaps even in the shorter formats. Unless Dhawan does something extraordinary soon, his days are numbered. Rahul seems a better prospect velu, express bowling, tweaker and 1 other 4 Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
I saw him bat, damn impressed by his batting. His basics are right Plays close to the body Plays with soft hands Gets behind the line of the ball Now has a power game as well If he plays all the test i wont be shocked if he is one the top most scorer in the series n if doesn't play it would be a shame. I dont see how can both Dhawan n Rohit get a chance before him tweaker, express bowling and sourab10forever 3 Link to comment
express bowling
Rahul is technically better than Dhawan and a more powerful hitter. I hope he gets the nod ahead of Dhawan. sourab10forever 1 Link to comment
Lannister
The only weakness of him is against swing bowlers, but again even Kohli struggles against them. Rahul, along with Pandey, should've been roped in a long time ago. sourab10forever 1 Link to comment
bowl_out
Hope the kid's performances and inclusion in the XI are not underplayed by naysayers quoting his RCB / Karnataka ties and closeness to Virat / Kumble Edited July 15, 2016 by bowl_out tweaker and sourab10forever 2 Link to comment
kruiser
Bbbut... we need a left-right combination at the top. So does not matter how bad SD does or how good KL plays.. we know the batting order. PS - with Kohli i still have hopes that he will not try to "build confidence of a player" but aim for win.. tweaker 1 Link to comment

Left-right combination is over-emphasized and cliched. I'd pick a better player over some perceived goodness from having a left-right combo. Xactly whats the point when one doesn't make runs only, runs matter at the end of the day and better player should play sourab10forever 1 Link to comment

Very soon it is Vijay and Kohli, 2 right-handers , batting. Some of the best opening pairs in test matches have been either both right-handed or both left-handed. Like Greenidge-Haynes, Hayden-Langer, Cook-Strauss, Boon-Marsh etc. sourab10forever 1 Link to comment
cowboysfan
Dhawan has failed, his technique in the international level especially at the Test level is not upto par, time to go with Rahul. Why is Dhawan even in the squad? cant they find another young capable opener? this is the tour to blood new talent. Forever Indian
Good that Rahul has done well in practise matches. Hope he kicks out Dhawan and opens with Vijay, that would be one solid opening combination express bowling, Ankit_sharma03, sourab10forever and 2 others 5 Link to comment

Adi_91
With ChePu being suspect with the bat, I prefer Rahul to be no 3 and hack Dhawan to open unfortunately. Link to comment

deathmonger
I don't generally follow test cricket on tv or watch IPL so haven't seen much of him but this Lokesh Rahul guy seems badass - beard, tattoo sleeve and a great proper batsman in the Kohli mould. In fact it's kind of become like a uniform. Man I love the swag these new Indian guys have. Link to comment
G_B_
I just hope he does not find new ways to get out like he did in the SL series. Link to comment
