tweaker
We have seen the rise of some young fast bowling all-rounders in international cricket... Woakes,Stokes,Marsh,Neesham,Holder,Braithwite etc.But we have to be contend with Binny & Dhawan.Hardik Pandya has shown promise, but he is far from finish product & Vijay Shankar is also new on the scene. Is there really a dearth of fast bowling all-rounders in our domestic cricket. Are there no all-rounders in domestic power house teams such as Mumbai,Karnataka,Delhi,Punjab etc. Who do you think has the promise to be a fast bowling all-rounder from u19 teams or a young player express bowling 1 Link to comment
sandeep
Player skills are the product of their environment. Weather Conditions and Pitches means that the rewards are so scarce and minuscule in return for the physical hard work of pace bowling. So a young player with seam bowling & batting skills who could potentially develop into a Stokes will want to, and be advised to work more on their batting skills instead of investing work, time and effort into high-risk, low-reward work of pace bowling. Its the part-time spinners who are more useful to domestic teams, so the incentives are skewed in favor of that type of allrounder. Contrast that with England, medium pacers who can bat a bit are generated by the basket-full, because conditions require and reward more players with those skills. In terms of cricket performance -wickets etc, and also jobs and $$$. To combat this, you have to create a pathway to success that young players will consider following. Unless you provide scope and opportunity to the Sanjay Bangars, Abhishek Nayyars, Stuart Binnys and Hardik Pandyas, you will never generate a top-shelf fast bowling all-rounder. Hence the reason to really give every opportunity to such players. But if you set unrealistic high standards and say, that only if you are already a Mitch Marsh or Andre Russell level player, will you get a chance. Then good luck. Wait for lightning to strike. Maybe another Kapil Dev will be born in the next 50 years. Or Not. Garuda, Nova, tweaker and 1 other 4 Link to comment

Lala
Its irony that India couldnt find fast balling all rounders except hardik, especially after playing more domestic matches like Ranji Trophy,IPL Even SL minnows have few like mathews, perera, maharoof, shanaka. Misbah 1 Link to comment

It is an irony that the so called "fast" bowlers of Pakistan despite their jazba and junoon indulge in doping, fixing and all cheating. Rasgulla 1 Link to comment

Is it? Or is it Lol-worthy that Pakistan can't find a batsman who knows how to play cricket and their2 best batsmen are geriatrics - one performs the pathani mujra on the pitch, while the other hides in the lineup until the ball is at least 40 overs old and then he gets a no-pressure score since all is lost anyway. Ankit_sharma03
Best one we had - irfan pathan (khayalon men raja hai) Best potential we have- hardik pandya (selectors don't have a vision for him) Link to comment
MCcricket
Yes it is good to keep n eye for good potential as far as fast bowlers n all rounders by, selectors, captain, administration but do not use stop gap ,bits n pieces players like R Dhawan, Binny as they can do nothing convincingly, I would rather have a Kohli or Mgrath over say Pollock n even he was a decent all rounder. Pandya looks promising, Ashwin to me is one, Ganguly was smart n overcame the problem a bit by using Dravid as a Keeper. tweaker 1 Link to comment
