bowl_out
Quote Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad, off-spinner Ashish Kapoor and left-arm spinner Maninder Singh are some of the prominent names that are doing rounds for the national selectors post (senior and junior) after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) completed its interview process on Tuesday. It is expected that MSK Prasad and Gagan Khoda, the two current selectors, who have just completed one year are expected to be retained in the senior selection committee. BeautifulGame
Prasad confirmed as chief selector https://t.co/Y9nydthL94 Board of Control for Cricket in India has named former fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad as chairman of selectors. In their 87th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Wednesday (September 21), the board also announced that Ajay Shirke has been re-elected as the board secretary. In the revamped selection panel, BCCI has also drafted in former cricketers Sarandeep Singh, Abey Kuruvilla, S Banerjee and Rajesh Chauhan. Not sure about this.Would have preferred some one more autonomous ,feel he is too close to Kumble. tweaker 1 Link to comment

sandeep
New selection panel is entirely composed of players who were not able to get it done at the international level. Not one guy, all of them. Seems unsettling, not sure why though. tweaker 1 Link to comment

renjith
Weak selection panel may turn out to be a good thing as captain and coach can always get the players they want. We already seen how ineffective high profile players like Patil and srikanth had been. Edited September 21, 2016 by renjith Link to comment

For all you know Ashish Kapoor and Prasad (V or MSK) may be objective and professional. For sure, it appears Kumble is objective and professional. And I don't see a glut of incompetent Delhi players now that Kohli is the captain. Regionalism does exist, but to assume that every person is guilty of it is ridiculous. tweaker, Vilander, TheWall and 2 others 4 1 Link to comment

Vilander
Selectors job is a specialist job or talent spotting, selection by Kumble/Kohili will mean its based on assumptions. They wont be sitting in any regional tourney. tweaker 1 Link to comment

Preconceived notions are dangerous.. they cloud your judgement & thinking.. Examples of parochialism abound in this thread itself... When India are looking for an alternative to Dhoni , who better than a wicket keeper to head the selection panel? Link to comment
