Re: 4 wicketkeepers in the squad?

The 14 against Lanka for first ODI include 4 wkeepers. Dhoni, Karthik, Dravid and Utthapa... We should rotate them every 10 overs.. :hic: :hic: :hic:
Dhoni is going to be keep the wickets rest are in the team of their batting merits. Karthick is kind of a backup for middleorder since Sehwag is back in the squad.

Re: 4 wicketkeepers in the squad?

no need for Karthik' date=' keeps quality players like Laxman out of the team[/quote'] Rohan you are a diehard fan of Laxman keep it going pal. Laxman might already know this but may be you need to know this too. WC selection is made based on recent performance of player in ODI matches. Laxman has not performed well in any ODI's recently hence is not a name for selection. He cannot be selected just because of his performance in test matches in SA. If you ask me whether Karthick or Raina is better than Laxman then the answer is they are not subsituting Laxman. Laxman's position in the team is taken by Dravid and Tendulkar. Karthick or Raina comes into play only at the expense of Dhoni or Sehwag. Each player is selected in the team based on a spot available not just to add up the total 15. Hope you got my point and would still continue supporting Laxman so that he can perform at his highest in Test matches.

Re: 4 wicketkeepers in the squad?

id take Laxman over Gambhir' date=' Uttapha, and Karthik, Laxmans experience will come in handy and his great record in the WI.[/quote']well, id rather have a gambhir making 30 of 30 balls in the middle order, and saving another 10-15 in the outfield rather than laxman, scoring 50 of 85 balls, giving away8-9 in the field, and increasing the chances of run outs in the middle overs, where we have started pinching singles really really well nowadays.

Re: 4 wicketkeepers in the squad? i will always be a diehard laxman fan no matter what, whats unfortunate is that many indian cricket fans want too see the end of Laxman. Whats sad to see is that hes such a good player india has had and is yet to play a world cup. Its also sad that many people on the forum think hes not a good enough player to play ODIs, and make up bogus claims such as hes not a ODI player he cant field he cant run always being harsh on him. 50 from 85 balls and so on. If you see Laxmans stats when hes scored above 50 its usually been a disciplined innings anchoring the indian batting order etc. I remember once Laxman scored a hundred 101 from 106 balls and at the same time Yuvraj scored a fast pace hundred too, people fail to realize that a player like Laxman would complement an agressive batsmen and it would work perfect for the Indian batting order. Guys Like Uttapha Gambhir are agressive but is that enough? are they real matchwinners? can they anchor innings during hard circumstances? what if the indian batting order collapses like it did in South Africa, When conditions are tough a player like Laxman can always rise to the occasion. Sure hes not the fleetest but his batting abilities are more than enough.

dravid is a make-shift keeper' date=' uthappa is make-shift batsman, karthick and dhoni are make-shift keeper-batsmen.[/quote'] How is karthick a make shift keeper/batsman? His glove work is top notch and the reason he gat called up in to squads in the first place. His batting is getting him selected alone. How is uthappa a make shift batter? He is a make shift keeper but specialist bat
