Why what is wrong with them? they have definitely won more games than Vinay Kumar,Badrinath and Pankaj Singh when they were young and raw or even after they are experienced.

They were a liability for long time. They were like a age old canon and no one knows if it will fire or not.

When was this guy given an chance.....I though he could have a made a wonderful test batsmen.....

In the debut test match, he made a wonderful 40+ runs against in-form murali. Unfortunately, he never got an extended run.....instead, hacks like yuvi and raina was given chances in test matches....Shows selectors can be really dumb

Murali? If you are talking about Badrinath, he made his debut against SA and only played against SA with the next Test being his final one. He made a 50 in his debut innings actually. In the next Test though, Steyn worked him over and nailed him and looked like Badri had no clue. But, I still agree to a certain extent with you that he seemed slightly better than Raina and Yuvraj for Tests.

Badrinath even in his 50 looked susceptible against fast bowling.....Isn't that what the argument is that FC makes you ready for big leagues?

When you figure out a formula of scoring runs in domestics you get used to it after a while....I am sure Badrinath is/was talented too and that is why he is a domestic legend, but what is refreshing with likes of Pant or even Samson etc is that they don't care about such things...they have absolutely no fear of reputation...like they have shown in IPL.

Chand on the other hand was made to look like a deer in headlights by Lee,Kallis and Steyn in IPL after WC heroics....Kohli just like Pant is now, shown he can hang in with the big boys right from the world go.

This is why we need to back such raw talent and blood them in young

FC  does not mean  Ranji Trophy alone.  Season  after season of Ranji trophy matches, especially against weak teams, hardly help the players develop anymore but often make them lose hope.

The level of development of the game of a player and his maturity needs to be gauged....he has to play tournaments like Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy where there are 3 strong teams only....... play for our A team......play against touring sides in the BP XI games.

If a player looks good for international cricket after that then he is introduced.  Too much time has hardly been lost while introducing proper talent.

Currently batting on 135, having faced 66 bowls. Second century of the match after scoring another century in the first innings when the rest of the team crumbled. If I'm not wrong, he currently has an average of over 85 and S/R of over 100 in test matches right now.

Don't be surprised if he's fast tracked into this team. Kumble and Kohli seem to have a knack of picking talent and Pant is pretty good. Viable replacement for Saha and Dhoni. Needs to improve his wicket keeping though.

Rishabh Pant seems like a really special talent with the bat.

Ranji Trophy level is not that high but there are other top batsmen taking part too and we can compare with their performances.

He is averaging 90.7  in his short  FC career now with a SR of  106.7  and 4 centuries.....albeit in only 7 FC matches and hence the average is liable to sharp changes.   Has a highest of 308.

I remember the way he attacked the highly skilled Mustafizur bowling 140 k in an IPL match.

Already hit 48 sixes in 7 matches.  He seems to have the ability to hit sixes at will.

He is a proper wicket-keeper too and  deserves to be in our LOI sides.  Ideal person to groom as a batsman-keeper for the future and can play just as a batsman too if Dhoni is keeping.

But must play as many FC games as possible and be picked for our next A team as well, so that he can develop his 5 day game.

The Delhi batsman has been in terrific form this season - scoring a lot of runs at a rapid strike rate

48 Balls taken by Rishabh Pant to reach his century in the second innings against Jharkhand - the fastest hundred by any Indian batsman in first-class cricket. The previous record was 56 balls, held by two batsmen: Rajesh Borah in 1987-88 and VB Chandrasekhar in 1988-89.

FASTEST CENTURIES BY INDIANS IN FIRST-CLASS CRICKET

 S Reuben Paul  60  100* (62)  Tamil Nadu  Goa  1995-96

21 Sixes hit by Pant in the match - eight in the first innings and 13 in the second. Only one player has hit more sixes in a first-class match - 23 by Colin Munro in the Plunket Shield in 2014-15; he hit all those in a single innings. The previous record by an Indian player was 15 sixes by Yusuf Pathan in the Duleep Trophy final in 2009-10. Pant has hit 44 sixes this season, the most by a distance.

113.01 Pant's strike rate this season, the best among batsmen who have faced 100 or more balls. He had a strike rate of over 100 in six out of seven innings this season and the only innings that didn't have a 100-plus strike rate was his triple-century - 308 off 326 balls.
