I haven't.. i was talking more off potential.

This poll is not about potential but about today's ability primarily as a keeper and then as a batsman......as the poll title states.

After Saha's injury, there is a lot of confusion regarding the correct option for a backup keeper in tests and hence the poll.

Kishan did not keep in the U19 WC even.

As of now, we just know of his excellent showing with the bat in this year's Ranji Trophy.

Seeing them keep in one days and under 19 and IPL and seeing them in 4 day ranji games which are 4 days, are two different things.

None of us have done that since Ranji is not being broadcasted. We should be focusing on Pant the batsman more than we are focusing Pant the wicket-keeper batsman.

Regarding giving a young wicket keeper exposure in the team to groom him.

Let him prove his wicket keeping skills. Indian test cricket team, where it is hard to keep to spinners is not the ideal place or level to groom a wicket keeper. One can cost the team a game as it is hard to keep even for a regular keeper so naturally it will be hard for a new comer to keep to Ashwin/Jadeja.

The real focus should be on Pant as a batsman for now

Yes, we must focus on him as a batsman for now like we have done for Rahul and see if he can some how squeeze into Indian team. May be get into India ODI side just as a pure batsman, play some big knocks and put pressure on Rahul/Vijay for test slot or even Rohit Sharma for no.6. Meanwhile continue to play for India A as keeper and improve the keeping skills.

I voted for Pant based on how head and shoulders he is above everyone else as a total package but technically and rightfully has to be Ojha who is still Saha's natural stand-by.

Was very impressed with Ojha's keeping skills

Then you should have voted for Ojha as we are looking for a good keeper primarily and then a batsman.

In Tests I always said Ojha if Saha is injured and Pant is not ready but the move to go back to KKD's and Pappus over the world made us think it is better to go ahead and blood Pant otherwise......

Everyone thinks he should play T20 and ODI and keep occasionally as Dhoni is already there to get enough exposure for tests in 2 years time.

But yes he is ready for the big leagues...test cricket is debatable but other formats he is locked and loaded to go

How the hell did Cricketics vote twice...special Mod powers :hitler:

My pick Saha/Ojha for tests and Pant for ODI's

The option was open for multiple votes. I picked the best two keeper with wicket keeping skills whom I have watched. They are Ojha and Karthik. Pant can't be the best keeper just because he is scoring more runs then other players.

This is like picking a lawyer as Database admin because of his little linux knowledge.

Nope....Pant is like a young Mark Zuckerberg wearing a dirty hoodie walking in with Facebook idea and people laughing at him rather than seeing what he is got or offering to hire him as the local IT guy instead of taking part and see the unraveling of a multi billion dollar enterprise :)

:facepalm:What a logic:no:

This is Indian test team. You can not buy Indian test cap easily. You got to earn it. Pant has played well. But to pick him as national test wicket keeper? No way. I am all for giving him chance as a batsman but Keeper is a specialist's job and if Pant wants to keep for India, we need to see more of him.
