My pick would be Saha for tests and Ojha as backup.

Ojha should have been picked in place of Parthiv as he is a much safer keeper...if he has returned from injury then I am assuming that he is fit.

Fully agree - better keeper and arguably better bat too. Pappu has well known weaknesses.

QDK avg 55
Chandimal avg 45
sarfaraz avg 43
Bairstow avg 42
watling avg 38
Dowrich avg 35
P Moor avg 35
Rahim avg 32

Saha  avg 28

AUS  were in similar situation with Nevill who was not performing good enough with bat, but they  have dropped him and picked a better batsman!

When will we follow suit?

QDK is a beast, and also has a relatively small sample size (as some of the others). You didn't mention Nevill in the list, who has even poorer average. Saha's average is higher than India's keeper batsman except Dhoni, Engineer and Pappu I think. He has failed this series, but prior to it, was close to 31.

Saha is too unpredictable with the gloves, though he's a better batsman but for now I would stick with Naman Ojha. We have already seen enough of how dropped catches can shift the momentum considerably, especially with Indian bowlers creating less number chances.

Ojha was not chosen for some weird reason.

Naman Ojha getting more votes than Saha,  till 10.30 a.m, on 24/11,  could be due to the " anti-incumbency factor " . The players in the playing 11 are invariably " the worst ones " unless they have performed in the last match .      :p:    So, it is understandable.

But, Pant getting so many votes as a test wicket-keeper.... despite the poll specifically asking for primarily the best wicket-keeper and then batsman....shows that some fans are basically interested in a good batsman at the cost of being completely unsure about a player's wicket-keeping skills.  ( Almost no-one has actually seen Pant keep in a 4 day match as the Ranji matches are not being televised  ).

Yes, this shows people's reaction towards getting Pant into the side is basically very desperate without much thought behind it. People are following the tide and singing along the same route. Few knocks later if he drops few important catches and score a good fighting 40 odd in the game, they will ask for him to be sacked right away and call him the next "Parthiv-dropthiv" kind of name, forgetting that the guy is batting really well and has barely kept to world class spinners on tough tracks and that he needs time as you do not become a great keeper over night.

Then why do you even have him as an option?

To be fair, had he not been in the option, people would have been desperate and not liked. At least now, we are getting to know how many people want him as our keeper.

Also, remember he was kept on "stand-by" apparently according to few articles.

Don't know how accurate those reports were.
