Naman Ojha getting more votes than Saha,  till 10.30 a.m, on 24/11,  could be due to the " anti-incumbency factor " . The players in the playing 11 are invariably " the worst ones " unless they have performed in the last match .      :p:    So, it is understandable.

But, Pant getting so many votes as a test wicket-keeper.... despite the poll specifically asking for primarily the best wicket-keeper and then batsman....shows that some fans are basically interested in a good batsman at the cost of being completely unsure about a player's wicket-keeping skills.  ( Almost no-one has actually seen Pant keep in a 4 day match as the Ranji matches are not being televised  ).

it does not matter whether we have seen a player playing or not. We did see him in U19 WC and he was okay. I dont think Pant will be worse than PP as a keeper.

That just shows that choosing Parthiv was a bad decision.

In the U19 WC, Pant did not have to keep the whole day on low and slow tracks, with some balls misbehaving and world class spinners bowling.

This is Indian test team. You can not buy Indian test cap easily. You got to earn it. Pant has played well. But to pick him as national test wicket keeper? No way. I am all for giving him chance as a batsman but Keeper is a specialist's job and if Pant wants to keep for India, we need to see more of him.

Tell me what was Dhoni Credential when he was handed over the test keeping. What was his performance in first class and performance in A team tours. Sometimes you go with the potential otherwise we would have never witnessed players like QDK, Gilli and Dhoni, however you rightly mentioned  to provide Pant a smooth transitioning shorter format is ideal way although i would always prefer anyone (even pant/kishan) over Pappu.

^ In addition to that the kind of experience people are looking in a raw keep is laughable, look at wridhiman saha he has took his entire seto be a good keeper, means you want Pant or Kishan to slog their asses in Ranji  by the time they become to fulfill all your expection, let me know how many bowlers of Ashwin skills bowling in domestics, also whether Ashwin was the same bowler while he was playing Ranji. You can't learn all the traits by playing first class or Ranji especially when International standards are very different then the domestic. That is the reason we hear a term called on Job Training.

Exactly and hence I want him to be picked in ODI's first and play a bit there as at least  as a batsman.

I am ready to bring him against Bangladesh in the one-of test whicj will take place soon but definitely not against someone like England in middle of a series where 3 games are left and that might decide the series. And I am no Parthiv fan, I rather have Ojha or even Karthik for his experience over Parthiv's experience.

Question still to be answered after more than 2 years of Dhoni's retirement. Say what you may about his captaincy but clearly he is missed as a player. And to think people used to call for his exit from tests back in 2011 citing Saha as replacement.

And how many outside of Asia test tons has dhoni got ? Let me tell you answer . Zero!!!

saha in fraction of time already has one such ton

While I value Saha's contribution to the team, and believe he walks back in - let's not over-rate Saha's ton against the Windies - Even Dhoni played good innings in the Windies, maybe not a ton, but scored well enough over there.  Saha's batting overseas is arguably no better than Dhoni's - so far.

And how many catches he dropped or stumpings he missed off spinners? Zero!!

Saha in fraction of time already has tons of such drops/misses

Boy o Boy.  I guess along with anti-dhoni-ites, you need some pro-dhoni fans with blind spots of their own to balance out the whole yin-yang thing.

I'm perceived to be a Dhoni "fan-boy" by quite a few on this board - but I'll point this out to you - Saha is a better glove-man than Dhoni in test matches.  Home or away.  Chew on that.
