Many celebrities, including Sachin Tendulkar and Rekha, give Parliament a miss

Tendulkar has all the world records to his name, but he would not like sharing his Parliament attendance record with many.

Going by Parliament attendance records, he barely came for three out of 20 sittings in the last monsoon session and had come just once in the 13 sittings of the current winter session. Even southern superstar Chiranjeevi and Bollywood diva Rekha have just one session each to their name out of the 20 monsoon session sittings.

But if that be the case, there are nominated Rajya Sabha members like richest businesswoman Anu Agha, who has attended 10 out of 13 sessions in the ongoing winter session; popular boxer Mary Kom had attended 13 out of 13 so far and Sidhu's replacement in Rajya Sabha in nominated category, actress Roopa Ganguly, is also not behind.

Ganguly has attended 10/13 sessions so far.

...................................................................................................

Why don't these people who don't have the time just resign?

If MaryKom with her two small kids and training can attend....others should too or leave.

Considering that he amassed all his wealth due to the adulation of millions and millions of Indians, he should feel that he owes society some pay back. A lot of people in India do not think that way though. Let us even for a moment accept that his money is his and he has no social responsibility, the least he could have done was when he was selected as an MP, contributed to more social causes and participated in law making. He did not even do that, and he didn't even relinquish his position.

He got much much more in return for what he has contributed to society. A "Godly" person is somebody who contributes heavily to society and gets little in return. Baba Amte might qualify for the same, Sachin is light years away.

Sachin has always been a self serving  greedy opportunist.

Even if he does a pinch of a thing for society, he will ensure that his PR team amplifies it by a factor of million.

Case in point that BMW drama, where he was there just to hand over the keys, but his PR made it appear has if he gifted it.

He has quietly used his connections with the high and mighty for self serving personal gains, that are above law.

I would anyday of the week have the likes of Dravid and Kumble as role models.

Can you cite some examples to substantiate these claims?

Every Tom Dick and Harry knows that Tendulkar has a partnership with Sanjay Narang who is a private hotelier tycoon.

What business did Tendulkar have to meet the defense Minister of India Manohar Parrikar to make the case for Sanjay Narang who built illegally in an army cantonment area ??

Just because he has played cricket, uske baap ka hai kya desh ??????

I said it before and I say it again, he is a self serving greedy opportunist.

@ naren How is that above the law? Its basically lobbying. May not be the best thing to do ethically, but very well within the rights granted by the Constitution.

No question of any illegality in Sachin's meeting there.

He wants to be seen as above law.

No law abiding ordinary citizen would dare to make such a request that jeopardizes India's defense.

Nothing he did was above law nor does he considers himself above law. He made a request as anyone in this country can.Dont let your hatred blind you.

May be Tendulkar is not happy to cowtow BCCI management or not corrupt enough to be deeply associated to be part of BCCI or waste time in Rajya Sabha pushing Congress agenda.

sachin is just a cricketer who served our country and the country has given him back more than enough..

elevating him to god and credit him for everything by his fans is plain stupid

Please -  Let's not equate playing cricket = serving our country.

Jawaans serve our country, people like Mother Teresa have served our country.

Cricketers play a sport, and earn their livelihood , and some excel at their sport (just as others can excel in their own field).
