Rahul in the squad,Nair in the squad, both most probably will be part of the X1...Manish Pandey called in as cover

Pappu's failure,Saha's injury...I would bet on Gautam getting a shot some time soon....Binny will be making another appearance pretty soon

:cheer:

Rahul/Nair/Pandey were part of the squad in one form or the other before Kumble became the coach.. take your maniacal musings somewhere else

So are we saying Nair,Pandey are head and shoulders above the rest and are the 2 best middle order bats in the country :cantstop:

sure they are good and in the scheme of things and I like both the players on potential but there must be something that aided them move up the pecking order for a coveted test cap....not saying anything.

Rahul from fringe player to sure shot starter.....has the talent and definetely has the x factor but will play for India for a long time....but is also lucky to peak at the right time :hatsoff:

Just FYI I am not against 3 talented young batsmen getting a shot...absolutely fine and encourage such initiatives....Hope we see it  consistently across India even from the smaller states...this is just too much of a coincidence given what Kumble has been doing post-retirement.

Yes, Nair, Pandey and Rahul are best in the country right now, barring the players who are already in the first XI and are injured.  Can you list the players who are better than these? Biriyani and Utthappa?

With Pandey, I wrote earlier when someone asked for replacement for Rohit, that Kohli should use Pandey as he can take his ODI form into test.

I think more than Kumble, it is Kohli who would have preferred Pandey. Kohli likes Pandey as you can see. He has seen him being promoted in ODI's by Dhoni and Pandey has lived up to the expectations too more than a few times. Kohli, hence thought about promoting him and bringing him in test.

I think this should be the ideal way of bringing such players to test instead of bringing them directly to Test side. Play them in ODI's and then Tests, unless someone looks like a typical test player only. Same method should be applied for Rishab Pant. ODI's and if he does good, then test cricket for Pant.

Shivil Kaushik: A left-arm chinaman in the Paul Adams mould, 20-year-old Kaushik was first spotted in Karnataka after he won a talent hunt conducted by former Test bowler Anil Kumble’s company, Tenvic. He would later bag a Karnataka Premier League contract with the Hubli Tigers, where he impressed. With his highly unorthodox action flummoxing a few batsmen, Kaushik could well be a limited-overs specialist in the making. In the IPL, Kaushik plays for the Gujarat Lions, and has impressed in his three appearances so far.

Little off the track question...Is this guy still sticking to KPL? was decent in IPL and had Paul Adams type WTF action....any chances in FC?

This thread is in poor taste.  Casting aspersions on a quality cricketer and coach, without any basis in fact.

Do you realize that since Kumble quit cricket, he was running a talent management organization that focused on players from his state. Well there is nothing wrong with that,Charity starts at home and he did unearth a few cricketers who have had successful domestic careers, some of them earned a shot to play for the country too even though they didn't have it in them to make it at that level.

Anyhoo....those players were under contract to his agency and Kumble does have a huge clout in Indian cricket and questions were raised.

The conflict of interest debate with Kumble was as recent as 3 months back.

So questions will be asked.

Why does it become about his integrity? can't it be that his vision for talent spotting is limited to his home state and he hasn't expanded his horizons yet?

People just want to be PC for the sake of being PC

^ Its not about being PC.  And now you are walking back the accusations that you implied earlier in the thread. You clearly made it about his integrity, when the fact is that not a single player from Karnataka has been selected with a shaky claim.  Don't be a double-dholak.  If you want to post nonsense, have the balls to stand behind it.  Don't backtrack and talk both sides of the mouth.

Rahul has topped the batting charts...for LOI's he has had a glorious IPL so no questions raised.....Pandey in LOI's was a good pick.....Nair might have been on the fringes but nothing states he was an out and out shoo in.

Now the problem is when all 3 of them have a shot at playing a test together. As I said even that is fine...just that Kumble taking over and now 3 middle order players from his home-state is too much of a coincidence.

Considering the fact that questions were raised about conflict of interest as he does have business interests in sports management when it comes to his home state.

Let's bet on this.  If neither make the team in the next 6 months, change your sig to "I have zero cricketing acumen, and I falsely spouted nonsense accusations at Anil Kumble".  If either of them plays, I will change my signature to "Maniac is brilliant, and does not put the hex on upcoming players by adding Captain Obvious names to his sig"  Do you have the balls to back up your words?

you haven't answered my question - most people on ICF are happy with the team selection and believe these three players deserve to be a part of the team. Rahul and Manish have also performed well in the limited opportunities they got.

Rise up from narrow parochial mindset.. Kumble and Kohli will benefit far more if they are able to build a legacy and a winning streak rather than getting some non-deserving players into the XI.

Now if you were questioning a certain player's six hitting capabilities in a test match, and Kumbles backing him, that will be a far more plausible conspiracy theory!
