tweaker
Goswami told The News Minute, "My venture is called 'Republic'; I seek the support of the people of India.” However, he did not divulge more details.
tweaker
Controversial Indian English television news anchor Arnab Goswami has announced that he will be returning soon with a new media venture called ‘Republic’. He has revealed little since then about his future plans. He speaks about being approached in the street by people asking when he’s returning on air and students chanting the name of his upcoming channel at a college festival. But he is also angry about a “paranoid big media house” that he refuses to name, but says is tormenting young journalists who want to join his independent venture. He also says upfront that he won’t discuss the source of funds for ‘Republic’, but will reveal whatever he can about what he says is India’s first independent media venture. tweaker
What is Republic? We haven't been told much so far... what do we expect? Republic will exist on all media platforms. Linear, non-linear, television, digital, social media and every single platform where we believe our journalism must reach. So we will use every possible technology to take our message and our journalism among the people. Today it is possible to do it on multiple platforms. So we will be a multi-platform, news generation, content creation engine and it is going to be a beautiful journey.
Cricketics
What was the main reason behind him leaving Times Now? I do know whatever little I watched him on tv, he seemed to be no less than our fox news knucklehead Sean Hannity, who won't let people speak. tweaker

Tibarn
Arnab alleges that a big corporate media house is trying to scuttle his new initiative. Maybe his old employers are trying to undercut him. I wonder if he poached any talent from Times Now or was working on his project during company time; that would surely leave a bitter taste in their mouth. Sean Hannity is anti-democratic no matter what and an idiot. He will find fault even when democrats go with a ultra-conservative agenda. Arnab has moved from center to slightly conservative/right and seems to be slightly pro-BJP these days. That also gave him more popularity and separated him from Burkha Dutt, Rajcheap Sardesai and others. But, yes, can't stand 5 mins of either in the show. They keep talking and won't listen. tweaker
S A Hariharan of Thanthi TV was one of Tamil news television’s star anchors. When he was offered a job at Arnab Goswami’s much-talked-about and yet-to-be-launched Republic TV, an English news channel, he was hesitant because of his Tamil accent. But Goswami was insistent because “we want journalists from all over the country, not just Mumbai and Delhi. Republic TV is about the emergence of a new generation of content creators,” says he. It is a point the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Republic TV emphasises while talking about how the channel will be different. It will need to be if it is to make a dent in the Rs 3,500-crore, hyper-competitive Indian news broadcasting market. Republic TV, being launched by ARG Outlier Media sometime over the next four-five weeks, will join over 390-odd news channels broadcasting in India, the world’s most overserved news market. The digital brand, Republic World (website and mobile app), will be launched concurrently, says Chief Executive Officer Vikas Khanchandani. To start with, the free-to-air channel will target India’s 180 million TV homes. There are, however, plans to take it across the world — to the West Asia, the UK and the US, among other countries. The company has already hired 300 people, of whom 215 are on board. A state-of-the-art-studio is being built in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area. According to the estimates, the company has raised Rs 150-200 crore from a bunch of big and small investors (Goswami retains majority control, according to company sources). A senior news broadcasting person estimates Republic TV’s capital cost at Rs 50-75 crore and operating costs in the first year at Rs 50-60 crore. chewy
8 digs Arnab Goswami took at ‘compromised’ media persons in his latest interview http://www.opindia.com/2017/04/8-sly-digs-arnab-goswami-took-at-compromised-media-persons-in-his-latest-interview/ 4. On why he left Times Now: Let me say that I did not want to make things uncomfortable for them anymore. I don’t believe in journalism in which a film director can call up a media proprietor and then shivers go down the spine of the media proprietor. I have taken on a lot of people in this country. I have broken a lot of scams. I have taken on powerful people and terrorist groups. And I feel truly sad when some film director calls up a media proprietor and says, ‘Why is this channel asking questions about me, and about why Pakistani artists are acting in my film?’ and the media proprietor gets scared. That’s very unfortunate Ironhide, Vilander and Gollum
