According to a report in the newspaper Mint, Times Group has sent a legal notice to Arnab Goswami asking him not to use the phrase" nation wants to know" Ā on his own news channel ā€œRepublic TVā€.

Ā

Times Now is a channel owned by the Times Group and they contend that ā€œnation wants to knowā€ is their intellectual property. Goswami became synonymous with the use of this phrase.

Most of the English TV channels are right wing these days. Stiff competition for Arnab with TimesNow, NewsX, IndiaToday also toeing the govt line. NDTV is too left leaning. CNN News 18 is probably the most balancedĀ among the lot.

Why do people watch English news channel? Most anchors look like hollow slaves, just filling the time with non-sense....like they are preparing for ielts or something.

Hindi channels are no better. In fact I hardly follow media for news. I prefer print media any day. 2 hours reserved every day to go through newspapers.:wp2:

Hindi channels are better. No doubt. Even your regional language news will be far better than English.

Ā

Newspapers? Yeah I open ToI abt 20 times a day on the phone. Several articles are rubbish but it's still better than English news channel.

Ā

Idk what's up with us indians, who are non-native English speakers, thinking like we are native speakers. An indian should never ever show emotions (like anger, excitement, happiness, trying to be funny etc. etc.) speaking English. It looks extremely lame.

Ā

Indian women may look ok sometimes but indian men look extremely lame when they put any emotion when speaking English.

That Shahabudding Lalu tape was scary as hell. There was a communal riot in Siwan and Lalu was taking orders form a convicted Don about police bandobast:facepalm:. 'Gaya tumhara SP'....WTF was that. Hats off to Indian police personnel who work under constant cloud of threat. Not only do they have to maintain law and order but also our politicians are fully behind the terrorists/dons/criminals. Lalu the beloved secular face of Indian politicsĀ :puke:

Secularism is a cherished word which is must for India if she has to have inclusive development, the ultimate aim for any country. But our politicians and media have corrupted the word so much that we have become absolutely clueless. Siding with Muslim dons and terrorists as Lalu is doing ain't secularism. Our founding fathers were secular in their style of politics(and mind you they didn't even include the term secular in our Constitution in 1950), but with passing time decadence has set in.
