Indian bowling Conundrum

Although this has been India's perennial problem and the outlook has been brighter these days we seem to have a problem in compiling an all conditions bowling attack.

There has been more pacers coming to the fore especially last 10 years n have the pace to be world class but lack the experience n nous, to be world class or effective in all conditions.

So in theory we do have only one all conditions bowler in our team n that is Shami.

Ashwin is a fantastic bowler but not half as effective yet away from sub continent but he is getting there but rarely will win matches by himself in Australia or SA n NZ , Eng.

Then there is the curious Case of Ishant who has very recently shown some progress but largely despite having all the required attributes has been mediocre over a large period of time.

Umesh promises so much being a very good athlete having natural pace, can swing n reverse as well but hasn't matured enough to think on his own n learn to use his skills and his problem is all in his head n maturity as a bowler, his though process as now he is more accurate but lacks in planning n getting batters out, bowling the right sequence of deliveries to test the batter.

BK is quite the opposite of Umesh as he has skills n control but lacks the important attributes to be successful, pace, bounce n stamina, he cannot even maintain his low pace n bowls very ordinarily after 10 overs at high 120 to early 130. What he lacks is physically.

Both Umesh n BK have similar stats but BK is played only in favourable conditions whereas Umesh has rarely played on bowlers tracks n few time he has played on them he has been good.

Shami is just short of world class but shown improvements like stamina as he bowls early 140 to mid 140 all day, bowls different lengths, uses bouncers now n still has to learn a few tricks like using cutters n crease a bit more but whenever he gets a ball in his hand under any conditions he makes things happen n is a hard worker n trier.

So effectively we have one Bowler we can count on anywhere we play in all conditions, Ashwins is next who is not so good away from sub continent.Jaddu is a good support bowler to Ashwin but will not have much role to play in SA, Aus, Eng ,NZ, BK n Umesh are limited support bowlers n Ishant is a mystery.

So what does the selectors n Capt coach do, first n foremost look to build a better all conditions bowling attack, we need a good leggie who comes into play on most tracks and Mishra is not the answer as he is a tried failure in tests, so hopefully like K Yadav, Gopal, Quadri need to be tried .

With pace bowlers we have Aaron who has pace n some experience so he needs to be tried as well , now Virat, Mumbles job along with selectors is to make a good bowling attack n in doing so play youngsters n find the right fit.

We do not have any left armers n they add a dimension to the bowling attack so they need to look at Sran, Aniket, Sangwan who have good potential.

Among right handed parts we have Chahar, S Sharma S Kaul who can swing the ball well but are quicker then very medium Bk so the can be tried , also have been hearing about N Saini as taller n quicker version of BK.

Among right handers bowlers with good potential who could possibly succeed in most conditions we can try, Ankit Rajpoot, Pankaj Singh, Nathu Singh, S Warrier.

We need to find one more all conditions bowler who can bowl in any conditions effectively and then we could hurt other teams away from sub continent as well, also with the availability of a seaming allrounder in Pandya we can field a good balanced team n Ashwin as allrounder gives us more options , now the job for management would be one to find a good leggie n develop on effective pacer from a larger pool of hopefuls , Ankit, Aniket, Nathu, Pankaj, Sangwan, Aaron and other guys mentioned.

Ishant Sharma has been selling himself short for a long time, after playing for so many years, he sti!l thinks like a part timer, fails to attack the stumps peeche regularly is his biggest problem, too many wasted deliveries, he has to bowl at the stumps, he cannot bowl 4 or 5 stump out side off n get hit for 4 as he doesn't get much movement.
