Police are supposed to be trained to de-escalate. Paramilitary are trained in exactly the opposite. Keeping the peace and fast, prompt investigative police-work is an entirely different story than seek and destroy internal threats. The violence in the state is unprecedented, there was a Modi rally in Durgapur (always a peaceful city inspite of the state's bloody history) 2 days ago and the terror unleashed on the citizens was of enormous magnitude, I know ordinary non political friends who are recovering in hospital, whose houses have been targeted and whose vehicles have been burnt...all a handiwork of TMC goons. Complete media blackout, mood is changing fast on the ground but people are afraid. Mamata must have sensed the changing tide locally.....in panic and as a last resort is playing victim card, making it pride of Bengal vs Modi contest. The state will burn a lot in the coming days, these elections will be an acid test, hope EC conducts it spread across many phases so that we don't see a repeat of the bloody panchayat polls. I shudder when people even think about Mamata playing a role in national politics, as if ruining one state wasn't enough. She has spread vitriol against Indian Army (over routine drills), RAW (Burdwan blasts, to defend the banned terror org JMB), banned CBI from her state, overseen large scale bloodshed in panchayat polls, imposed Urdu over Bengali in some educational institutions (sadly Bengali/Urdu politics has a deeper impact on the psyche of Bengalis due to historical reasons), protested against NRC, clamped down on criticism/cartoons/FOE, ordered firings on Gorkhas, allowed dozens of one-way communal riots, banned Durga idol immersions on Muharram (unimaginable during Left rule), corruption scams, TMC syndicates, land grabs.....list goes on and on. The worst CM in India and that takes some doing. If she becomes PM I hope we have a military coup, otherwise India will disintegrate and the damage will be irreversible. BTW that minister is a Jamaati mullah, supporter of razakars who led mega rallies in Brigade Parade Ground against Sheikh Hasina and Awami League during the 1971 war crime trials. Put it this way, a fundamentalist like him will be in prison under the current BD govt, he openly supported/supports W.Pak backed mass murderers/war criminals like Sayeedi and Nizami . Anyway coming back to topic, she has replaced 'ram' with 'rong'. For example rainbow in Bengali was 'ramdhonu'/Ram's bow, now it has been made 'rongdhonu'. Rongdhonu doesn't have any backing in Bengali dictionary, she is trying to change the language to appease the Muslims. Similarly an attempt to Urdu-ize many Bengali words.
