India A vs Bangaldesh- Squad

Unleashed

Recommended Posts

Here is a Youtube video of  Chama Milind  bowling 3 years ago in the U-19 World Cup when he impressed us.  He is on the taller side and looks sharp.  Good aggressive run-up, action and very good speeds for a 19 year old.  Lots of deliveries between 135 k and 140 k.  I hope that he has added pace instead of slowing down.

Why is Kishan the keeper, and not R. Pant ?

Because when a team is listed you can have any number of bowlers, batters or allrounders but only one keeper.

On a serious note Pant will be batting for his place in India side and both might keep, but Pant will be bowling seam, he is a decent pacer, started as a bowler then took up batting , he knows only way to dislodge Dhoni will be to bat, bowl and keep and maybe then the selectors will not be blindsided by a has been who cannot play the modern ODI or T20 format with any success

Saw Chama Milind bowl in the SMA trophy today.

He could not touch 131 k even in a T20 game where he had to bowl just 4 overs a day.

He has slowed down a lot  from the pacer we saw 2 years back

Disappointing !

Highlights looked very trundlery.

I agree about Chama Milind but also want to share that a lot of times 2020 isn't where some of the pacers can bowl fast because every decent pace bowler starts bowling faster in his 2nd over as by the end of his first over, he is fully sweating and is in the rhythm and warmed up a bit. In twenty20, for strategic reasons, pacers, by the time they are fully warmed up, they end up being take off by the captain. It sometimes sucks but their remaining 3 overs are used in 2 different spells. This is the worst part of 2020 as bowlers, when they start to find pace and rhythmn, are taken off. Sometimes you got to let some bowlers bowl full spell, or 3 overs on trot or keep their one over for later, especially when you have decent back up bowlers to bowl in the death.

That happens with some pacers.   I often wonder why it does not happen with more.

In case of Chama, I think someone from ICF, perhaps Rkt, reported  some time back that he was bowling around 127 k  in a Ranji match last season too.

So is that good a squad . Yes we know have loads of batsman and spinners

but where the strategy on picking faster bowlers . To develop and look at?

That has been the biggest weak area of this new selection committee.

Aniket Chaudhary is a good pick though.    He was bowling with pace, bounce and movement last season.  Hopefully, he has not slowed down.

So the perennial Indian attitude and cultural problem with importance of fast bowlers and how to develop and groom continues ?

If Nathu Singh and Basil Thampi were Pakistani pacers, they would be playing for their A team by now and maybe Nathu would have played a couple of ODIs even.

But atleast he is tall and will get good bounce as opposed to short trundlers like Vinay Kumar.
