B Thampi - Kerala Fast Bowler

Not a problem. Even Steyn, Johnson like big names have been taken apart in this format not once but many times.

More important test is for Indian cricket fans. They need to be patient and stop judging him or any other new bowlers for that matter based on these 2020 games. If they perform good, better for Indian cricket, and if they struggle, then lets not bring down threads over threads lamenting and criticizing such bowlers who are playing their first tournament in the shortest format.

I think he couldn't resist the wordplay  " Thampi getting a thumping "  and does not mean anything  serious by it          :phehe:

Kohli,Kumble and the team management are clearly giving exposure to the bowlers who have

got pace. They have an eye for fast bowling talent. We'll have a fast bowling pool very very soon.

First Aniket and Basil got the opportunity to bowl in the India nets. That's a great way to impress.

If we look closely all our top seamers right now have one thing in common. That's pace.

In test Shami,Umesh are genuine fast bowlers.Ishant still got some decent pace and crant it up.

Even BK gained 5-6k on avg and now bowls in 135-140k in tests.

In LOIs Bumrah has got deceptive pace.Always around 138-142k and sometimes faster.Even

Hardik can be 140-145ks when he is in full throttle.

Upcoming and fringe bowlers all have got pace Aaron being the fastest.

Aniket,Basil,Sangwan,Ankit,Nathu can all bowl upto 145k

M.Siraj,Warrier,Shardul,Navdeep are all high 130 to low 140s.

Days of trundlers are gone in Kohli era.Kulwant,Suyal,Shukla,Baba Shafi Pathan, Ravi Kiran,Avesh

these guys are not in the limelight but all have good amount of pace.Bowlers coming up the ranks all have some amount of pace nowadays.Bowlers now feel if they have pace they have good chance of getting selected over others.

A culture is being created . Could really reap dividends in 5 years . Spoilt for choice  maybe one day ?

we will reap dividends right now but keep this up loads of young kids will want to bowl quick . The culture may change

At last we are getting them plus team management prefers young quick bowlers rather than fecking trundlers. We will produce more quick bowlers than padosis, actually already we are ahead in terms of pace bowling than them.

He was the one who pushed jayant in and was inspired choice

and pushing pandya hard . Dravid loves pace and wants india to have this to give back to oppo what he always had to face

I don't rate Jayant that much....yeah he performed really well till now more with the bat than with the ball.

But he'll never outdo Ashwin. So I don't see him playing outside the SC.Kuldeep seems to be a better option

atm, brings variety.Though for the timebeing Jayant is our 3rd test spinner when we play in the SC.

Simply brilliant from Kohli and Kumble     :hatsoff:

Excerpts from the article.... sweet words......

"We have Aniket Choudhary, (Basil) Thampi, Nathu Singh as part of our scheme. ...

The Indian team management has been talking about the importance of fast bowlers in the Test side,

It's not necessary that they will be part of the squad in near future, but looking at the series .
coming up or even far ahead, it's good to have them in the scheme of things and bring them...
into the work culture that we all expect and is needed for success at the international level,"...

p.s -  Bro, would you post it in the speed and performance thread too.

Yes !! Well dravid is from shoaib n Lee era he knows the importance of pace more then any one

he had to face it alone so many times, or at best with Sachin no one else, and never a pack of pacers to give it back always some lone wolf pacer not backed up by others.

This were just my imaginary lines considering dhonis love for the trundlers !!! Hell he would have even converted Lee n akhtar into 135k roadrollers if they ever had played under him..

But but I have seen him saying to bhuvi when bhuvi was trying to swing it back into the left hander against srilanka ( forgot the match)

Dhoni shouted " Bhuviieee Swing wing Chhod sirf sidheyy daal"

Poor bhuvi

Utterly ridiculous by Dhoni if its true. A bowler should be allowed to bowl what he wants

Yes, just look at him bringing his Rajasthan  player like Samson to Delhi Daredevils. This shows he just cares about young Indian players a lot. Samson was find of the IPL few years ago even though he hasn't had great last two years. But players like him have spoken highly of Dravid. Even Rahane learned a lot under him when spending so much time with him in RR and that has translated into his test game which helped him do well overseas.

Having him around our youngsters is great. Young players often have a lot of ego in them, and Dravid is one guy who will ensure they change such mindset and get more mature early

Hopefully zak can do something similar. He was our best bowler. Imagine if all the new guys can learn the art of swing and setting up the batsman.

Yes, Zak can be helpful even to an established bowler like Shami who keeps getting injured. Zak can probably share his regime with him and share from his own experience about what Shami can do different to help prong his career, something which Zak wasn't able to do himself. I am sure until Zak is part of DD, he will keep Shami around him, which is good for Indian cricket.

On a cool, wintry evening at Krishnagiri in Wayanad, former Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Nuwan Zoysa was talking about how the side he coached, Goa, fared against Kerala on day two of the Ranji Trophy match. He said he was impressed with the young debutant who took the new ball for Kerala. He was referring to Basil Thampi, who had taken four wickets in his maiden First Class innings.
