The Indian selection panel had picked an additional eleven players for this very game on the insistence of India U-19 coach Rahul Dravid.

With less than a year to go for the twelfth edition of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018 in New Zealand, this series presents a cosy timeline for either team to identify talent, sniff shortcomings and work on them, and it's only fair that Dravid wanted to give an opportunity to as many players as possible outside of the 18-member squad that will play this series.

Two of the squad members who featured in the warm-up game were Mayank Rawat and Ishan Porel, both of them not being part of the team that won the Youth Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. While Rawat makes it to the squad courtesy an unreal innings of 279 runs off 77 balls in a Delhi school tournament, Porel is a promising right-arm speedster from Bengal who featured in his side's recent win over Delhi in the Cooch Behar Trophy final.

Vivekanand Tiwary and Rohan Kunnumal form the other two additions to the squad, but barring that, India stay largely unchanged. Gujarat wicketkeeper-batsman Het Patel, who was named in the Irani Cup clash against Rest of India, continues to find a place, as does Prithvi Shaw. The 17-year old made a stunning hundred in his first class debut in Ranji Trophy semi-final and sustained his good form and promise in the final to grab headlines in the build-up to this game.

Abhishek Sharma, second-highest wicket-taker in the Asia Cup, will continue to lead the India U-19 side while Yorkshire fast-bowler Matt Fisher will captain England U-19 for the first time, taking over from Max Holden, who's the four-day captain now. The 19-year old Middlesex opener will soon join Northamptonshire on loan for the first three months of the season, thus confirming representation of nine of the eighteen counties in this English U-19 squad.

Squads:

India U-19: Heramb Parab, Het Patel, Himanshu Rana, Ayush Jamwal, Vivekanand Tiwary, Prithvi Shaw, Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Harvik Desai, Rahul Desraj Chahar, Kamlesh Singh Nagarkoti, Salman Khan, Priyam Garg, Shiva Singh, Yash Thakur, Mayank Rawat, Rohan Kunnumal and Ishan Porel.

England U-19: Matthew Fisher, Max Holden, Harry Brook, George Bartlett, Euan Woods, Will Jacks, Delray Rawlins, Ollie Pope, Tom Banton, Liam Patterson-White, Louie Shaw, Aaron Beard, Jack Blatherwick, Henry Brookes and Jack Bruce.

India Under-19 players walk into this bilateral one-day series in disjointed spirits: they are still hungover from winning the Youth Asia Cup title in December but find themselves mourning the sudden death of their strength and conditioning trainer, Rajesh Sawant.

The fitness trainer of Under-19 Indian cricket team Rajesh Sawant was found dead in a private hotel on Sunday morning, police said. The incident came to light when 40-year-old Sawant did not report for the training session in morning and so other team staff went to his room, they said. It is suspected that he may have died due to cardiac arrest,

Great they will have to wait 10 years till they get a chance to play a game for India. Dhoni will still be tuk tuking. Yuvi will still be wasting overs. Mishra ji will still be bowling no balls. Nehra ji will still be escorting the balls to the boundary.

Too much venting , this is about under 19 guys now. Give them some space and discussiom Lively.gif

17 year old Kamlesh Nagarkoti from Rajasthan is another genuine fast  bowler in the making. Rajasthan is producing some exciting fast bowlers. Nathu, Aniket, Khaleel and now Nagarkoti.

They are producing some exciting talents too. R Chahar , Lomror are also good young players to watch out for. They seems to have a very good basic structure at the local level. Lalit Modi had the funds and he might have used it properly
