Meanwhile Himanshu Rana scored a 100 in chase, which is always impressive even though it came in vaiN. He scored in 87 balls. And India were bowled out in 43rd over. Had they kept wickets and gave a hand to Rana, could have easily chased down before.

Rana needs to be kept an eye on.

Another 50 from Himanshu.

Got out though. Should have capitalized on the good start. India u19 113/4 in 22 overs. Run rate is good. Just need to bat out the overs to reach beyond 250.

The Indian skipper also had astonishing bowling stats in age group tournaments. Sobering reality is that stats at this level do not mean much.

Also, what about this guy P Shaw? Scores a century in the final of country's premier FC tournament, or was it the semifinal? And then gets bullied at U19 level. I wouldn't write him off at all but this showcases just how far behind we are in terms of nurturing fast bowling talents in our country.

Got out to Matt Fisher both the times who was one of the youngest English player to have been picked for a divison side in2014 and also played in the u19 wc before.  He is a quality bowler from what it seems. And clearly Shawwasn't tested as much in the Ranji when he scored runs for Mumbai because of the poor pace bowling attack. Anyways, this is a different challenge for him facing a tall bowler. May be he is trying too much changing his approach after he was criticized of throwing his wicket after a good start in Ranji.

Still a big series with 3 more games to go and hopefully he clicks.

and you were saying guys who have played FC should not play U19. Playing for India is a completely different thing and our domestic fast bowling attack can be underwhelming.

Yes, very important to play a FC player in age group matches instead of trialing other talented U19 cricketers. Comical.

how does it matter if he has played FC unless is not less than 19? He only played FC through U19 system and he has every right to play for India U19 as well if he has done well at U19 level. Example is Shaw who is only 17, so, you do not want to play India U19 just because he has played 2 FC games. It is unfair even on the player to not play him just because he has played FC.

Shaw has played a grand total of 2 FC games. Many under 19 players get dropped after few games from their stste side. It can easily happen to Shaw if he does not perform well next season in Ranji. Shaw should play every possible under 19 game to gain experience of playing different kind of bowlers and under different pressure situations.

Kohli did too. And is the right way.

He has played two, and not even close to being dropped. Do not make idiotic presumptions please. As a matter of policy, players who have represented teams at a higher level of competition should NEVER play at a lesser level.

No assumptions. It is a fact that many players who fail can get dropped easily from the state side and forgotten, even if they are considered upcoming talents.

Point is that Shaw should play every game to gain exposure.

Your point about FC players shouldn't play in under 19 competitions is your opinion and that is fine and is another topic of discussion.
