You cant just go by average in FC. He was compact in technique and temperament and looked like a solid batsman in the England series and more importantly, he scored a lot of runs. What more do you want ? It made perfect sense to pick him in the side. Edited February 25, 2017 by kubrickian Link to comment

You cant just write him off after one bad game. Anyone can have a bad game. They should pick him in the next test. Drop Rahane for Karun. We dont have any other batsmen in the squad anyway. Mukund is an opener. Edited February 25, 2017 by kubrickian Link to comment

CG
We played 6 batsman plus wk againist NZ.The only series where we played 5 batsman throughout at home was the last ENG series. What are you on about? As I said we misread the pitch. On turning track we don't need 5 bowlers but on flat tracks we have to play 5 bowlers. Link to comment

How many absolute flat tracks with nothing for spinners you get in India? Link to comment
adi B
Indian team collectively failed in this match Barring a couple.even if india batted thrice with 6-7 proper batsmen the result would have been the same.we just didn't perform in this match ,the spinners weren't good and the batsmen shat there pants suddenly playing on a turner after playing continuously on flat pitches. It happens and i am sure Kohli and co will comeback strongly. Australia were too good, congrats Jimmy Cliff 1 Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Arrogance is horrible here we actually expect to routinely whitewash the great cricketing nation of Australia . Win the series I am happy Link to comment

It is a collective failure and 6th batsman would have done zilch too. We batted poorly, bowled poorly, fielded poorly. They dropped 4-5 catches of Smith who scored a 100. Am sorry that's not how cricket works . Pressure plays a massive role in how batsmen react to a tough situation . The difference between a 5 or 6 batsmen is simple . At 40/3 we are one wicket away from exposing our tail with 5 batsmen . There is no way Rahane or Rahul would not have felt the pressure in the first innings for example and continue to play their natural game . Even with 2 down it feels like we are couple of good balls away from a collapse . You just don't put that kind of pressure not just on your middle but also top order . It's plain stupid to play with 5 batsmen , especially when the pitch favours the bowlers heavily . Flat pitches yes , it's fine you will get away . Link to comment

BeautifulGame
We did not win much we drew test series.Even Zim drew a series here along with eng.I would take win over drawn series anyday. When did Zim ever draw a series in India?l don't ever remember that happening Link to comment

fineleg
More than anything, ICF was arrogant. Look at the number of threads or posts, chestbeating "we will thump Aus 4-0 LOL" I think that arrogance got its answer - 105, 107 Slap on the face of a portion of ICF Edited February 25, 2017 by fineleg Link to comment
BeautifulGame
because Ashwin, Jaddu and Jayant all 3 are alrounders. Both Ashwin and Jadeja are bowling all rounders, so if are playing another all rounder he should be a batsman first. Jayant Yadav bowling isn't good enough to play in the team as a bowler alone. So why is he playing as a bowling all rounder. He should be batting high than Ashwin and Jadeja if is an all rounder to be useful. Link to comment
