They are scarred. Will they come back?

Big scars to our batsmen by Steve O'Keefe. He did a Monty-Jadeja. Just kept putting the ball on good length at a high pace and natural variations of the pitch did the rest. They kept playing for spin and he kept hitting pads on deliveries that didn't turn. This is the best recipe for success on such pitches. You don't need to be Warne or Murli. Monty did this to us in 2012. Jadeja is doing the same for us since his debut. And now O'Keefe used the same formula.

We will need a patta to put O'Keefe back in his place and please Indian batsmen dont play for turn when you face him, just take off stump guard and play him like an inswing bowler.

Yea @rkt.india I dont know what you were smoking when you said we can chase 350 (we = this indian team with this batsmen).

And of course, the arsenic guy @Cricketics was going on and on how about "how we can rally and chase"

LOL, I told ya (in the other thread). Now you think they will change offstump guard bla bla, dream on.

We have a Sri Lanka tour later this year???

The main thing is not to panic after this loss and not to make drastic changes to either the team composition or the team strategy.  They have worked well  for us in the last 6 test series.  Just address the issues if any and play normally in the next test match with a clear mind.

The issues that need addressing are

  • Practice batting against spin in the nets with extra importance. Practice playing Jadeja a lot more, both his arm balls and spinners. Create artificial roughs on one practice pitch.
  • Practice catching a lot, especially close-in catching and create specialists for key catching positions.
  • Kumble needs to give a clear guideline to the players on how to  take reviews logically.
  • Not wanting a raging turner.  We have done well on flattish tracks and we need to stick with that.
  • Stick to the basics of test cricket like we were doing mostly in the last few test series.

I dnt know about our team. But this win wil give Aussie batsman world of confidence that they can bat at any surface now and specially better if given better surface which will be the case in next few test.

Regardless of that we should be still favorites if we bat well.

Just win one toss and put on a 400 plus acore and it will do them world of good and will bring their confidence back.

Need bit of luck now with the toss next game. Also just bat little conservatively.

Since players are short of runs, need to bat more straight bat until they find their confidence back.

I think we should go back to wickets which were like England series .Turn but not extreme to expose ourselves .

Still fully confident we will win the series .More than batting which was an off day , what we need to fix is our fielding .That just demoralizes the whole team.

We must admit Lyon and O'Keefe are better than whatever we had to face from SA, England, NZ, BD.

I love how much of the responses refer to how the authorities need to prepare a different kind of pitch (aka less of a raging turner).  The result was karma for a cricketing board/team/fanbase that advocates pitch doctoring which is essentially cheating.

I love how it backfired and made all three parties look stupid.  Just produce a wicket that allows all three elements to show their skills (batsman / pace bowling / spin bowling) and the best team should win.  I understand that different countries condition result in different styles of wickets (England = swing / Australia - bounce and seam / India - more turn and less bounce) but pitch doctoring is essentially just admitting that your team doesn't have the skills to meet the opponent on a fair surface

This wicket isn't pitch doctoring and neither is the result of that. This is the regular Indian turning track which we find plenty in Indian domestics .

We r asking for a different wicket because our current set of batsmen themselves look weak against Spin.Unlikee in the past were had great players of spin , these players themselves struggle on turning tracks so point gambling on it.
