Did pacers miss the trick by not bowling cutters?

The fast bowler's figures look better because of the pitch and because Australia did not play attacking cricket against them. The batsmen were bloody-minded. They just made up their minds to not take any chances. Most of the shooters India bowled were off target. Not once did a quick roll his fingers on the ball on a pitch made for cutters. You will see a lot of cutters from Hazlewood. India said Jadeja was unlucky in Pune when he did not bowl the correct length; hopefully they are looking at things other than luck if they are to turn this match around

Did they fail to utilise the conditions?

if Australia had tried to bat quicker, they would have lost their wickets too. Also, the author is talking like fast bowlers know which ball will be a shooter which not. Not many balls from the stumps kept low. So, the most of the times only the balls which were not at the stumps kept low.
