Why India is not in World XI?

lol ugra one of the reasons i stopped reading cricinfo. On topic, why go through the hassle of sending Indians in in official capacity. God keep the 9 indians in production team safe. its an enemy country afterall, they might arrest one of them on espionage charges.

Since we are at picking XI and the next game has some days , Lets pick An Asia ODI All time XI I have seen a lot of All time Asia test XI list, hardly seen a few Asia XI for ODI For Overseas 1. Jayasuria 2. Sachin 3. Kohli 4. Sanga/miandad (havent seen miandad play so its gets tough to make a choice) 5. yuvraj 6. Dhoni (capt) 7. Kapil 8. Imran 9. Wasim 10. Murali 11. Malinga 12th. Razzaq (really hard to miss him, fielding went against him ) For subcontinent 1. Jayasuria 2. Sachin 3. Kohli 4. yuvraj 5. Dhoni (capt) 6. Imran 7. Kapil 8. Afridi (over many spinner, well his leg spin, a lil better fielding then many pakistani and batting ) 9. Akram 10. Malinga 11. Murali Fielding and running was a huge criteria, so i never considered many players . Specially playing against World XI these two areas shud be good

    Tennis :2017 season

the moment tipsarevic said 'leander Paes', i knew this guy knows his tennis players. IIRC, Agassi faced Leander in 96 Olympics..and said while Leander never learnt to hit a proper ground-stroke, he is a master volleyer and by far the best player ever in executing the drop volley.

If we can get KL Rahul to Keep Wickets for WC, it could give us the balance that we are looking for, otherwise teams looks out of place due to Dhoni past it and no new keeper in line. If he can keep the level of Dravid, it wouldn't be a bad choice. We got to WC 2003 final due to long batting line up.. 1) Dhawan 2) Rohit 3) Kohli 4) Manish 5) KL Rahul (W) 6) Jhadav 7) Pandya 8) Bhuvi 9) Kuldeep 10) Shami 11) Bumrah

Why India is not in World XI?

I read this article by Ugra and was bewildered - http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/20668282/sharda-ugra-why-there-indians-world-xi? Is it really such a difficult thing to answer? Let me a total randum dude and not an expert try to answer 1. Security concerns - Indians are definitely likely to be a much bigger targets for terrorists. The SL attack was also initial planned for the Indian team. When Indian tour was cancelled they decided to continue with the conspiracy and target SL team instead. 2. Diplomatic reasons - India and Pakistan are engaged in low intensity warfare for months now. Govt. is not really keen to carry on any relations with a state we are not in very friendly terms with 3. Things have not really improved - There are no indication that from the last time govt' decided to not tour / play with pakistan things have really improved. State sponsored terrorism continues at the same levels. Ugra mentions PM's 2015 Lahore visit but ignores that right after that India suffered terrorist attacks that has made things worse than ever. Talking about our place in world cricket etc.without considering above factors is a very ignorant position to take. Our situation is not all the same as the other countries part of World XI. Their concern is only security related and that also is a much bigger issue for us.

The government turned a blind eye to the violence and also instigated it. It was very organised.

Our armed forces? Are you living permanently in Vancouver or do you plan on going back to India? Which one are you? Indian or Canadian? I never mentioned a single thing about Khalistan so don't get all hot and bothered. Sikhs growing up in a Hindu majority country with a Hindu controlled media will obviously have a different viewpoint than people who do not grow up with these things. The media controls the way people think in every country in the world. Have you ever heard of HS Phoolka he is trying all legal means to get justice for the riot victims but the justice system in India is a joke. My own family have a court case in India regarding disputed property going on since 2010, India is a joke in these regards. As for Londonistan have you ever looked at the demographics of Hyderabad, Meerut, Kerala? And that is all your own fault.

There were many Sikhs killed in Uttar Pradesh and recently a mass grave was found of Sikhs killed in Haryana. Until anyone is convicted of Sikh deaths in 1984 then Sikhs will never feel 100% Indian.

Hahaha funny enough. If there is a India vs Canada match, I would support Canada. That's because we guys are part of the club cricket culture and see the hard work and commitment our national players (without money and findings) put in cold on 10 degrees days months after months. Practicing on indoor concretes for 8 months, only guys in North America wouldundrstand the pain.

I don't care if Dhoni is 40. If he is this fit, all the kids can sit and watch. A player who is accumulating, is not on the down low. He is stellar gold standard as a wicketkeeper. its mind boggling you are failing to see that. Going for 1st slip catches is a great thing. And if he did, Dhoni would blow away Gilly as the best limited over keeper ever. that you fail to see. And yes, its a rare attribute indeed to find keepers who don't drop straightforward catches. Ask Gillespie if he'd prefer Dhoni over Healy in Barbados 99, where Lara could've been had at 135-140 and WI would be 9 down with Walsh walking in for Lara, not to keep Lara company. Dhoni is just fine keeping to fast bowlers. Safe hands, excellent ability with wayward deliveries..do you acutually watch any of his keeping or are you just bastman/ball fixated ? Don't beat around the bush. its basic cricketing knowledge that as far as batting goes, Indian team is failing to use Dhoni better. Because when 40+runs/innings, 90 average, 80 strike rate guy is being asked to finish the innings, failure lies with management and team org. time for promotion.

Guy is going nowhere. Still one of the fittest guys on the field. His keeping in limited overs is excellent. Hardly concedes byes and is the best wicket-keeper at effecting run-outs, with his 'one motion collect and throw to stumps' ( way better at affecting run-outs than collect and bring hand/both hands to wicket). Rarely drops a catch. A batsman has two jobs in ODIs - accumulate runs/score runs fast. Cricket, at end of the day, is about beating aggregate total. Just like a '30 off of 15 balls, to push total from 280/4(44 overs)---> 340 off of 50 overs is more useful than a 10 off of 15 balls', so too is '75 off of 125 balls more important than 20 off of 10 balls in a 225/7(50 overs)' scenario. Dhoni accumulating more runs at a slower speed means, promotion. Promote him to #4, where he can accumulate more. that he is 'no longer a great finisher' is laughable, when he is out-performing specialist batsmen in the team. Its sheer agenda-driven madness, to ask for the best wicketkeeper in the country, who is also one of the fittest players in the world and accumulating at the average of 91, to be dropped. And its not like Dhoni has a string of 20*,18* and no high scores. He is having a truly great accumulation season so far, in ODIs, where he's scored 548 runs in 13 innings. thats 42+ runs/innings rate: in and of itself a good ODI average for the year. Like seriously, lay off an aging vet having a very, very good season so far, just coz he is old. Like it or not, most Indian fans have a very age-ist menatlity. they mostly want a '18-19 year hold hyper-star, who will show some trace of potential-->fast track-->adapts to top level cricket quick success story---> 15-16 year career-->then retire gracefully for next hyper-star' mindset to supporting players. Not as bad as the Parosis but same mentalit is #1. Completely misses the point that pro-sports is all about results. Nowhere, not in soccer/nhl/nfl/basketball or heck, even in more pro-oriented cricket nations like RSA/AUS- does a player have his place questioned, if he is fulfilling all the criterias: a) established great b) is fit enough c)is currently having an above-par season and d)is old/very old for his sport. But no, Indian fans = 'old = gtfo, go home'. So sad.

Good call. Squashing all this ageist unprofessional noise surrounding a player who is 'too old' in some people's minds. Despite the fact that he is amongst the fittest men in the team, an impeccable LOI keeper and is continuing to prove that 2016 was an aberration to his amazing play as a batsman. this is the cricket equivalent of saying 'I don' t care how old he is, we are not going to trade away Dominic Hasek'

Why India is not in World XI?

How long can PCB continue to provide extra cash to overseas players and continue with this extra security show? Questions need to be asked though whether for how long will this kind of security be provided to the players? I mean the current security provided for players in this Pak vs World X1 series must be top class security, almost presidential level to show the world that its safe to play cricket in Pak. But lets be practical and ask, can Pakistan afford providing this kind of security for every bilateral series and tournaments? What is being done here and for the PSL final was a lot more than what most countries would do when they host tournaments. Recently they pretty much shut down everything in Lahore and the whole area was filled with security to ensure the PSL final takes place. But how can this be answer to hosting future games in Pakistan? You can not shut down and provide this same presidential level security everytime. Not everytime overseas players will be paid by PCB extra cash to come and play cricket in Pakistan like it is being done for this series. I don't think this series changes much regarding safety concerns to play in Pakistan. I am happy that their supporters got to see their players play live and watch some international players, but situation hasn't changed in Pakistan much.

So I would love to see Umesh Yadav or Mohammed Shami going there, even if for short periods,” said the coach. “And why just the bowlers, the batsmen should go too.
