When Dhoni screws up at number 6, let's move him to number 4 cos after all...he can anchor the innings perfectly. When Dhoni screws up at number 4, let's move him to number 6 cos after all...he is a finisher and its better to have him in a "hit out or get out" position at this stage of his career. Rinse and repeat till infinity.

In ODIs, I will choose Bumrah and Shami over either Bhuvi or Umesh Bhuvi will be my 3rd choice pacer. Umesh ... I want him to play test matches only. I want to develop a new ODI pacer like Siraj or Thampi or both.

I recently met Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne, we were in the same elevator. This was in New Yok when they came here to play in Sachin vs Warne series 2 years ago. In the same hotel I also met Sehwag, Sanga, Wasim, Murali, Ponting etc. But truly the best moment was meeting Tendulkar. It was also very movie like moment as I reached hotel as soon as the game got over in the citi field and I knew his floor where his roon was through my league, so I pressed that floor number and when the elevator opened, Tendulkar was inside the elevator trying to reach to his floor. I was shocked and did not know how to react. But I also noticrd Tendulkar was shocked seeing a guy in Indian shirt holding his book. I promised him that I will not follow him to his room. I took a picture and he signed my book. Tendulkar left for his room and as promised, I took the elevator back down to the lobby(I ended up finding Donald and Pollock there). Meeting Tendulkar will always remain special. Have met Tendulkar, have met Federer, now only want to meet Dravid in person.

Whats with all the wrist slitting?

I think we were expecting the relative newbies, esp Jadhav and Pandey, to stand up, chase this down and establish themselves as the future of the middle order. Especially when they had a decent platform. After the 35th over, we had 117 or so to go with 7 to go and Jadhav/Pandya at the crease. I had it all sealed and delivered in my mind and was surprised to see they didn't make it.

Shami bhai looks like he had a good biryani buffet

Why? So we can chase 60 from 3 overs instead?

Whats with all the wrist slitting?

Yes we lost today and a few things could have been done differently. There is always room for improvement. A few key players were rested. But whats with the overreaction. Just sit back and enjoy. Indian cricket is in a good place. 9 ODI's straight. Been reading the Aussie media and they dont seem to be that fussed about the series loss. God only knows what 90s Indian cricket fans went through. To the younger crowd your living in a golden time. Just enjoy it.

I would take 71-4 if atleast 3 of those wickets are from overs 1-25 as compared to 55-0. And I wouldn't pick Umesh for ODIs.

He never had those skills if by finishing skills you mean single handedly finishing matches. He feeds of batsman like Yuvraj, Raina, Kohli or just about any stroke maker for Required rate reduction. Once that is done and match is much winnable he takes a few calculated risk and increase his SR. By this time those batsman who did the hard work of reducing Req RR gets out while one of those risk shots. And dhoni hits the winning six. This is career of finisher in nutshell. Had any of Kedar or Pandya stuck around you would have seen a dhoni classic even today. Nothing to do with batting order.

he certainly has cost this game. scoring was not as easy in later part of both the innings. Warner and Finch made full use of it while he struggled especially could not make full use of it when set. He is not a match winner in ODIs. We need a match winner for opening. Both Aussie openers are match winners.
  21. 3 points
We would be chasing 60 in 3 overs if he was sent in at 4
  22. 3 points
he had to go...had Pandey or Jadhav stayed on...he would be lunging and tuk tukking for them to finish and ended up with a notout and fans would have opened ridiculous threads

death bowling was the difference today, last 2 overs 30 runs, i ll have bhuvi n bumrah because of that always

Damn....Brace yourself Dhoni fans are invading

Looks like me and Kedar Jadhav has the same batting coach as we both seem to have the same lappa technique...but unfortunately I was not considered "inventive" or "innovative" ...I was straight called a useless hack who was not fit to play cricket...envious of Jadhav's success

More Manjugiri He thinks Rahane is competing with Dhawan for a spot as opener. Dhawan is one of the first names on the playing 11 list.

don ji ..... Even Umesh, Shami, Ishant and Aaron have all bowled some 150 k + balls But we don't consider them 150 k bowlers We consider them to be 135 k to 148 k bowlers .... their regular speed range Similarly, Amir is a 135 k to 147 k bowler in LOIs and 130 k to 142 k bowler in tests What bizarre claims ? We agree that Waqar was very quick between 1989-94, quick between 1989-97 .... Shoaib was the quickest bowler ever ..... Wasim could bowl quick when he wanted to but did not do it always.. Similarly, Srinath was very quick between 1995-97 and quick between 1991-99 Similarly, Indians have had multiple fast bowlers in the last few years, especially from 2015 WC. We are seeing 4 or 5 Indian quicks bowling 140 k + in almost every match they play nowadays. We have shown you some videos of Srinath bowling quick .... relative speeds are not easy to spot on videos What do you want .... a live video-call from Imran Khan ! While you provide source-less quotes of Lara

It would be okay to complain about ER if Umesh took 1 wicket for 80 runs in 10 overs or something, but this guy was complaining about a player who took 4 wickets.

Shami and yaadav have been off the mark.Expected though playing after a very longtime ,so cant blame them.

How many times Kedar has given India the wicket it desperately needed! He contributes with the bat many times as per situation. And like any other player fails sometimes. Yet his place always questioned because he is a bad fielder. From since when Cricket has become an athletic game. You don't need eleven players to be good in fielding. Few slow fielders can be accomodated. Shouldn't be an issue.
  38. 3 points
Huh? Why are people whining about the bowling? The results are pretty similar to last match even with bumrah and bhuvi. Only spinners have given away runs.

    Excellent interview of Sunil Gavaskar

even sunny gavaskar's wit is unparalleled, i ll never forgot his jibe prior to 2011 semifinal that pakistanis love coming to Mumbai

The guy can't play a bouncer from a medium pacer to save his life, and with a ODI batting average of 28 you are saying he can replace Jadhav as a batsman.

Even though I firmly believe Rahul is an opener. And should not bat at 4. But in no way jhadhav and pandey both should be playing ahead of rahul. I would give talent like Rahul 20 chances then these useless fellows.

Average speeds definitely matter a lot. But that has to be average speeds of non-slower balls In LOIs, what happens is ..... average speeds often come down due to lots os slower balls And there is no data available for average speeds of non-slower balls for LOIs It matters a lot if done regularly ..... Amir does not do it anymore ..... but has no relevance to the accusation that Indians trundle Speeds were not shown on TV when Srinath was at his fastest between 1995-97 Just like you can't show me videos of Waqar bowling 153 k or Wasim 148 k Your own Imran Khan -- " Once in an interview, 1992 World cup winning Pakistan captain Imran Khan said that after watching him bowl 150 km/h speed on Indian pitches, he considered Srinath to be the most grossly underrated bowler in the world. " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javagal_Srinath The Zimbabwe captain Alistair Campbell revealed that Srinath was recorded at 157 km/hr on 27 January 1997 in the game at Paarl between India and Zimbabwe. He said about this game: "We then moved on to our second game against India, at Boland Bank Park. In all 236 was quite a decent score, as it wasn't the easiest of pitches to bat on, and Srinath I think bowled the quickest that any of our guys had ever seen. He bowled a really quick spell early on, even quicker than Allan Donald; he was timed at 157 km/h, a good 10 km/h faster than Donald was bowling throughout the tournament. Grant Flower was hit on the thigh pad, and when he came off he said he thought he had broken his leg" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javagal_Srinath

They should start looking for someone else in place of Umesh Yadav in ODIs. He looks so clueless. There are so many emerging fast bowlers and they are refusing to try them. Should bring in Ankit Rajpoot against NZ and SL.
