wanted_desi reacted to sourab10forever in Contribution to Indian cricket : Is there anyone even close to Dravid?
His contributions to the Indian cricket team as a player was unparalleled. Now he is going out of his way and producing young players who are national squad ready. The work he has done with the u19 and A-squad teams will never be forgotten.

Kudos to this man who has actually contributed immensely even after retiring, unlike so many other legends who have either just contributed as commentators or have taken up some high paying administrative role (Some cheerleader have also gone on to F us by becoming an undeserving national coach).

wanted_desi reacted to mancalledsting in Does Rohit have what it takes to open overseas against quality pace attacks?
Controversial topic but I have felt this about Rohit for a while (haven't run a statistical check), I don't think he has the technique to be an effective opener overseas against good quality seam attacks. He is overly defensive and saps momentum away from the rest of the lineup. He struggles with the moving ball (e.g. Amir in CT Final) when conditions suit and struggles to hit back of a length deliveries. Already in the game during the first over to More Morkel, two half volleys were bowled but because he's camping on back foot he didn't have the confidence to go on the front foot and punish the loose deliveries. I know its sad to think this because our middle order is really poor at the moment and our opening 3 are our main strength, but I think compared to other countries e.g. England, Rohit weakens the attacking potential of our top 3. As I type he hits a beautiful six...lol! Don't feel he does that often enough though...I hope he continues to prove me wrong today

99% of pitches in odi cricket are excellent to bat on where 300 is par. You will very rarely get a pitch like the one we got in the first odi against SL in dharamshala last month.

That’s why players like Azhar Ali and Ajinkya Rahane are liabilities in modern day odi cricket.

wanted_desi got a reaction from maniac in Shubman Gill is the real deal!!!
He is proper ODI batsman, reminds me of Dhoni and Virat with low risk shots. He might be a good addition for WC 2019. He can do decent job in middle order, which is looking like a mess.

KingXI messed up spending 2 crores for Gayle, who is struggling even in PSL from what i have heard. But, they gave up on Shubman Gill around 75 lakhs. Local Boy and Future Star, it would have been worth to take a 2 crore bet on him. He could give you 15 years, and become face of your franchise.

They didn't even go for other U-19 bowlers. These guys are still not on level of american sports level, where they plan so ahead.

India should drop Rohit Sharma and Shikar Dhawan from test squad for England.

They should get 3 new batsman for England Series:
    1 New Opener
    2 New Middle Order batsmen

wanted_desi reacted to dandaroy in Hashim Amla’s House in Southafrica
I know it is his personal life, but it is ridiculous to see his wife draped in that black burqa. Looks like a ape. Just out of place in modern times!! She is probably brainwashed to say that it is her choice. Such is the power of fundamentalist religion !!

Note: Just to clarify this a bit more. I am not calling Hashim Amla's wife an ape necessarily, although the comment was made in reference to her. I do not know her, have not heard anything about her in the news to form any opinion. What I intended to mean is that anyone who is covered from head to toe (including face) in a black fabric does not look human because the human features are all suppressed by the black shroud. That is where the ape comment came from.

Also the comment about the burqa has nothing to do with Islamophobia. I am sure Hashim Amla and his family are fine people. Islamophobia is fearing, hating and discriminating against someone just because he/she is Muslim or comes from a Muslim background and attaching stereotypes to them. You can not hate a person for who they are and still be able to criticize them for any beliefs, practices, etc that you think are detrimental or in conflict with a modern open society.

Actually many liberal minded people fall in that trap, let alone other Muslims. Any time you say anything critical of the Islamic culture, religion or society you are tagged an Islamophobe even though you are trying to make  valid point and not stereotyping people. This actually hurts the cause because Islamphobia is real and does exist in our current climate and I am symapthetic to it. All this instant labeling does is alienate more people from being sympathetic to the struggle. Same is true for homophobia as well.

Chuck Pandya out. Go with 4 seamers + Ashwin in the bowling department and find 4 batsmen to support Kohli.
