D.Chahar looked a bit innocous today in his first 2 overs, as the ball was not swinging.  His ultimate bowling figures were salvaged as SRH lost 4 quick wickets and went into a shell.

Chahar looks really good when the ball is swinging. His outswinger is very good indeed.

But this is the problem with medium paced swing bowlers.  They look innocuous when conventional swing is not available ... and conventional swing is not available more often than not.

It just means Sundar is not athletic or has been training under a stupid coach. It also means Nehra is not only athletic, he has also been taking care of himself. Please watch ' Breakfast with champions' and listen to his daily diet. Will give you an idea how much routine he follows or has followed.

You are confusing stamina with practise. Umesh has more practise of bowling in more no of matches, while say, Nagarkotti doesnt. So what you are talking about is called muscle memory. Umesh yadav's body is used to such rigors and his muscle memory knows what kind of maximum stress it has to exert. While Nagarkotti's body isnt.
It doesnt mean Nagarkotti cant do it. Or Nagarkotti doesnt have stamina. Nagarkotti can bowl many more overs than Umesh, and can run faster and longer than Umesh yadav, any day, any place and any hour!

Many in India have forged their age. I see *ing aged or fully grown men getting into government jobs but claiming to be 23 or 24. It disgusts me. North Indians are biggest culprits. UP, Bihar and Rajasthan.

17-18 yr olds dont bowl 145 because their muscles do not develop by then. They are not at their peak when it comes to strength. While when it comes to flexibility and stamina, you are at your peak when you are at your younger most.

A lot of stress fractures could be happening to 17-18 yr olds but what is the core reason behind that happening? That they do not have sufficient strength and put unnatural stress on their muscles, apart from adopting a wrong posture and bowling action thinking they can bowl faster. But not all of them would have the same problem.

I may have little idea about sports science, but I wouldn't rate someone reading google and coming and giving expert comments.

    A few points

----   Speedguns often give an idea whether a pacer is bowling with full intensity and is in good rhythm.  When a young pacer is bowling 5 kph slower than he is capable of ...  it often points towards a lack of intensity   or laziness    or lack of fitness     or  lack of rhythm ...  which need rectification.  Like Shami in SA  (  Subsequently it was found that he was not focused due to brewing troubles with his wife  )

----   I think the biggest beneficiary of regular usage of speed guns have been countries like India and Sri Lanka.  This is because there was a belief that Indians could not bowl quick. Even when they did, they were made to beleive that they were not as quick as their Pakistani or English or South African counterparts. Like it happened to Srinath. This made them feel like 2nd class citizens.

Regular use of speed guns gave them a tangible benchmark to achieve ...  140 k, 145 k, 150 k.   Young pacers nowadays have personal speedguns to see whether they are achieving these benchmarks.

This is giving them confidence that they don't have any genetic shortcomings which are stopping them from becoming world class pacers.  And the results are showing ... we have 3 pacers in tests and 2 pacers in ODIs who have low averages now. Our bench strength is huge.

----  When a bowler's optimum speed is 135 k to 140 k  and he is bowling at that and bowling well ...   no one criticizes him on ICF.   A good example would be Bhuvneshwar in test matches in the last 2 years.  He is praised that he has increased his speed to 135 k to 140 k... and bowling better as a result. No one cribs that he is not bowling 145 k. We all want him in the test side in tests played outside Asia.

----  Zaheer Khan was a very talented, skilled and thinking bowler.  But he ended up with a test average of almost 33. This is underachievement in my opinion.   He was capable of bowling 135 k to 145 k ...  but chose to be a 130 k to 140 k bowler. A few good series especially in S.A. and England, does not define a bowler.

We want low average pacers who will do well everywhere.

----  Pace and skills do not have to be  " either /  or  "  .   There will be some pacers who will have pace but low skills. There will be others who will have low pace but skills.  We want pacers with both.   Like Bumrah and Shami.  Like Umesh of IPL 2018.

----  High pace seamers are more important for  Asian countries especially in test matches ...  because we play atleast  60% of our tests on the slow Asian pitches ...  where reverse swing at high pace is the preferred weapon for pacers.

----  People are excited about Avesh Khan just as a rookie prospect.  Primarily because he has the combination of height , bounce and pace which is not common among Indian pacers. ( Most Indian quick pacers are either short or medium height not exceeding 6'0" ).  He is not thought of as a finished product but has to play more of FC ,  List A and A-team games... and improve his skills.

----  Everyone is happy and excited about the spell Rajpoot bowled yesterday. No one cares that he did not bowl near 150 k.  This is because he was bowling with a lot of intensity.

Having watched Rajpoot bowl for quite a few years, including FC, this is the issue that he has.  He seems to drop in intensity a bit too often. Needs to rectify it.

----  Final point ....  We can't compare a rookie like Avesh with Rajpoot, who has been playing FC for 6 seasons, has played multiple A-team series and is on the verge of a Team India call-up. They are at different stages of development.

When you are bowling stump directed length balls to tuck up batters,  yorkers  or bouncers then full pace is the best option.

If you are bowling wide then not giving pace is the best option.

Bowling proper slower balls is a different thing and are used on slower and flat  tracks.

Control requires a thinking mind. Not experience. You can spend your entire lifetime trying to push taj mahal from its place, it wont.

And the difference between being great and just a good bowler is the effort and hard work. Umesh and Aaron lacked a thinking brain as well as decent mentors.

I think having a good yorker or slower ball do not necessarily make someone an LOI bowler. The same deliveries are used in Test cricket as well.
And I for one believe that Test cricket is the best form of the game to make a debut in. Not any form of LOI. The batsmen do not jump at you in Test cricket. And even if you fail on the first day, you always have the 2nd day or the 2nd innings to make amends. But a bad outing in an ODI or T20 could very well mean mental disintegration and a long time scar. Not to forget, a bad innigs could break one's career entirely.

There has been swing in the air and seam on the pitch in this match. Good and decent pacers opening the innings are having a field day.

I don't know why Avesh Khan, with little experience, on his worst day, on a flat pitch  is being compared to ...  Rajpoot with decent FC and IPL experience, on one of his better days, in such helpful bowling conditions.

Rajpoot looks a very mediocre bowler to me. And yet somehow I feel he is still international quality. I mean the time has changed so dramatically for India. 20 yrs ago, Pakistan used to have bowlers like Rajpoot and we used to be terrorised by such bowlers and used to think they were express pace.
Today, even if Rajpoot bowls 140, he is garbage to us.

Shutiyas comparing Avesh bowling on a dust bowl to this pitch. Bowler always bowls according to the pitch and batsman. Avesh too would have bowled differently on this pitch.

This is an absolutely different pitch. Avesh will wreak havoc on this pitch. We need more pitches like this. Don't be stupid to compare raddi delhi pitch to this beauty of a track.

Dude, he is a national level sportsman. He has played U19 for India. The training is no joke. Saying something like he doesnt have the stamina is making an umbrella statement without any basis.

You can say he lacks in experience, or he doesnt have experience to understand when to bowl fast or when to bowl slow. Or his muscles may not have developed fully to be bowling at full pace yet, throughout the day. Saying he doesnt have stamina is ignorance. The kind of training state level athletes get is phenomenal, and the international players are on a different level.

And anyways, even in Test, you get to bowl max 4-6 overs on a trot. Its not that you have to keep bowling the entire day. And incase you are missing, the younger guys are the fittest and have the most stamina. The older guys have experience and know how to handle their body!

For me, Prasidh and Khaleel seem like bowlers who will do better in test cricket. Ofcourse, with a little bit of time but definitely more test material than limited overs.
