  1. You guys must have heard Nandan Nilekani and his views on Human Capital. Our Population is a boon, not a bain. Civic sense if not followed, has to be enforced. That does not happen in India.

  8. https://www.timesnownews.com/business-economy/economy/article/economic-activity-clearly-losing-traction-rbi-governor-shaktikanta-das-at-mpc-meet/440647 Updated Jun 21, 2019 | 00:38 IST | PTI Shaktikanta Das, as per the minutes of the June 3-6 MPC, said that since the last meeting of the rate-setting panel in April 2019, greater clarity has emerged about the evolving macroeconomic situation. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das | Photo Credit: PTI Mumbai: The Indian economy has been clearly losing traction and needs a decisive monetary policy to promote growth, said Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das while voting for a 25 basis points (bps) rate cut along with other five members at the MPC meeting earlier this month. Das, as per the minutes of the June 3-6 Monetary Policy Committee, said that since the last meeting of the rate-setting panel in April 2019, greater clarity has emerged about the evolving macroeconomic situation. The RBI released the minutes of the meeting Thursday. Overall, there is clear evidence of economic activity "losing traction" with the GDP growth in the fourth quarter of the last financial year slowing to 5.8 per cent, he said. "In sum, growth impulses have clearly weakened, while the headline inflation trajectory is projected to remain below 4.0 per cent throughout 2019-20 even after considering the expected transmission of the past two policy rate cuts. "Keeping in view the evolving growth-inflation dynamics, there is a need for decisive monetary policy action. Hence, my vote is to reduce the policy repo rate by 25 basis points," he said. He also favoured shifting the stance of monetary policy from neutral to accommodative to send a clear signal, indicating that more measures could be taken in the near future to boost growth. It was for the third time in a row that the RBI cut the key lending rate (repo) by 25 bps. MPC member and RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya said the mixed picture on economic growth has morphed into one where at least some aspects have weakened considerably over the past two quarters. He also flagged some upside risks, including deficiency in monsoon and volatility in crude oil prices, to inflation. "In spite of my dilemma, I vote, albeit with some hesitation, to frontload the policy rate cut from 6 per cent to 5.75 per cent..." the minutes quoted him as saying. Another member and Executive Director Michael Debabrata Patra said the risks to the primary target of monetary policy are distinctly on the ebb. Inflation expectations, he said, are also better anchored than before. "In fact, if one were to step back a little in time, it is evident that if the 2019-20 projections materialise, the MPC would have steered inflation at or below target on average for four years in a row in its five-year term of office," he said. Other three members of the MPC -- Ravindra H Dholakia, Pami Dua, and Chetan Ghate -- also voted in favour of reducing the key lending rate. Das also said quite a sizeable part of loan portfolio of banks continues at the base rate, which impedes monetary transmission. Interest rates on small savings are also higher than the prescribed formula, he said. The transmission of the cumulative reduction of 50 basis points in the policy repo rate in February and April 2019 to fresh rupee loans has been 21 basis points. However, the weighted average lending rate on outstanding loans has increased by 4 basis points. "Going forward, the transmission is expected to improve, given the lags with which banks adjust their deposit and lending rates in response to changes in the policy rate," the RBI governor said.
  9. and when they were expecting a wash out. Wait for the Pak v Bang and Pak v Afg games to happen. I am hopeful both teams will beat Pakistan and push Pakistan to the bottom of the table.
  10. Would you know why were the operating costs were higher than other airlines. The other airlines would also follow similar operating procedures and cost buckets. I would assume that the newer airlines would have higher operating costs initially. Aviation fuel should be same for all airlines. From what I remember, Jet Airways used to be expensive than other airlines barring Air India.
  11. Plate level final is possible. Bangladeshs will thrash Pakistan this time.
  12. You are over estimating the medical staffs job. As good as what Shastri does for the team
  13. Very unfair if michael bevans two innings are missing. Both times he walked in under sever pressure. In 96 it was 16 for 4. In 99 also it was similar. rockstar knocks. In both games Mark Waugh went for a duck
  14. These things could have been done on scheduling 1) there could have been more days with 2 games. Thus shortening the total time period and introducing reserve days. 2) the games could have been scheduled in such a way that most teams remain in contention till later part of league stages. It would require playing with minnows initially. i think 99 was the best format.
  15. Lots more to come on this front. Yash Birla group has also become a defaulter. how people will return the Mudra yojana money. All that will add to the NPAs
  16. Disappointing to see such a good airline fade away. I haven’t understood why this happened when there is increase in flying passengers. Vistara has come up really well and are at par with what Jet used to provide.

By Express News Service |Shimla | Updated: June 21, 2019 3:18:51 am The mangled remains of the bus at Banjar in Kullu district on Thursday. Express At least 32 people were killed and 28 severely injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh around 4.10 pm on Thursday, officials said. The private bus (bearing registration number HP 66-7065) fell into the over 500-metre-deep nullah near the Dhoth Morh in Banjar tehsil of the district, Kullu Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri said. The bus was on its way to Gada Gushaini from Banjar. It was crowded with over 60 passengers, most of whom were students returning home after taking admission in Kullu. Sources say most of the dead were from Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur’s Vidhan Sabha constituency of Saraj. Banjar Patwari Sheetal Kumar told PTI that, prima facie, it seemed that overloading and negligent driving may have caused the accident. TOP NEWS Clear evidence of economic activity ‘losing traction’: RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das After being informed about the accident, the CM, who was in Shimla, reportedly left for the accident site. Himachal Governor Acharya Devvrat and CM Thakur both expressed grief over the accident in their condolence messages. The bus had covered a distance of barely two kilometres from Banjar when it fell into the gorge. Eyewitnesses say such was the impact of the fall that the bus disintegrated and its roof was ripped off. Most of the passengers were from Gada Gushaini, according to MR Bhardwaj, the sub-divisional magistrate of Banjar. Till 8.30 pm, the rescue teams had counted and identified 32 dead, said Bhardwaj. Rescue teams led by the SDM had rushed to the spot on hearing about the accident. The victims were evacuated to the Civil Hospital at Banjar. Medical teams and ambulances were sent from district hospital Kullu as well. Locals also rushed to the spot to help the teams. The rescuers had managed to rescue at least 12 women, six girls and 10 young men, among others, till the filing of this report. Most of them were in a critical condition. The SDM said the rescue operation is on and the number of dead could go up as the drain was very deep. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to those injured in the accident. “The Himachal government will also provide monetary compensation to the kin of the deceased after their identification,’’ he said. The CM has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, said a state government official, adding that Thakur has also asked the administration to provide the best possible medicare to the injured passengers.—(With PTI inputs)
