  1. Manjrekar only saying that because he wants his fellow Mumbaiite Iyer in . He didn't want Manish either
  2. I agree. I wish he was in the squad in the first place ( I would have had him instead of Kedar) It'll mean the 11 has only two pace bowlers but pitches being what they are it may not matter; we could play four different types of spin options
  3. I think that will leave the bowling a bit light. Kedar is useful in Asia but in England the pitches will not be slow and low and he could get hammered.
  4. Shikar, Rohit, KL, Virat, Dinesh, Hardik, Krunal, Bhuv, Kuldeep, Yuz, Jasprit KL at 3 and VK at 4 would be my first choice. My 2nd choice is VK at 3 and Manish at 4 - i still think Manish can come good if invested in; he hasnt grabbed the oppos that have come his way but has been shuffled around a bit too. 3rd choice is Iyer at 4 Agree with that, maybe he can adapt to no 4 but for that he needed to have been given a long enough run of chances. The problem is none of the options - KL, Manish, Dinesh, Iyer - have been given a long consistent run. I think Rahane should not even be on consideration (but im sure he will be)

    Rank MI films

3, simply because of the menace that Seymour Hoffman got to the villain role. Puts other baddies into shade. Hunt seems to be in genuine jeopardy in that film, unlike the others.
  6. Nothing quite tells you a side values the art of fast bowling more than picking six seamers for a series on the traditionally placid pitches of the UAE http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/24670336/10-things-watch-asia-cup Khaleel's strength lies in extracting bounce even on docile surfaces - which could come in handy in the Asia Cup in Dubai and Abu Dhabi - and he's got pace too. http://www.espn.co.uk/cricket/story/_/id/24542109/khaleel-ahmed-rapid-rise-tennis-ball-tonk-india-odi-squad Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the two venues for the 2018 edition and it's a given we will see runs. A lot of them. https://www.firstpost.com/firstcricket/sports-news/asia-cup-2018-from-rohit-sharma-to-imam-ul-haq-five-batsmen-to-look-forward-to-in-upcoming-tournament-5172161.html Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first on a Dubai track expected to contain plenty of runs. http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8532/report/1153243/bangladesh-vs-sri-lanka-1st-match-group-b-asia-cup-2018-19
  7. So far, the bowling has been good and the batting underperforming, the batting needed strenghtening. I get that Vihari could have replaced some body- but who? He can not open and Rahane is coming off a half century.

    Hanuma Vihari

Great Ranji season and now having a good VH tournament too. Should be drafted in the next A teams , average of close to 60 in FC cricket been a consistent scorer over the years What do people know of him - Is he potentially test class? Middle order ODI option?

Former India pacer R P Singh retires

I was at Trent bridge in 2007 when him and Zaheer had the England batsmen in knots. He got KP with a Jaffa. Vaughan scored a good century that day. At his best he was a very good bowler. He should have made more of it . For a brief period it looked like he had good pace bowling stocks in that time with him, Sree Santh, Zaheer, Munaf I think even Irfan was still going in ODIs. Didn't last long
  10. Yeah mate see you in Asia Cup in a few weeks
  11. "not keeping him fit" What were the management supposed to do , not let him play any cricket at all in the build up to the series? Injuries happen cant be helped. How is that a blunder
  12. On flat unresponsive UAE pitches he would have been handy
  13. Saini and Krunal in for Thakur and Kedar would have been good
  14. Its not a terrible squad. For me the only pick I'd disagree with emphatically it's Thakur. Done nothing in list A cricket to merit it. I'd like to have seen Krunal in there too, maybe even instead of Hardik who deserves a rest. Or instead of Kedar as spin bowling batsman. Iirc Kedar has done little/no batting for the A team since his come back from injury. There is also the issue of where Kedar would bat - he's a good (indeed the squads only) 6th bowler option..but batting at 6 is too low for him and too low for MSD. Both should bat at 5 or not at all. Hardik could bat at 6 maybe Axar at 7 but that's too high for him and too long a tail. Not overjoyed with Rayudu, but he's been in form in the Quadrangular- more so than Iyer. And I guess bit more experience then Iyer and Vihari. Can't believe the stick Manish is getting given the form he's in. His ODI career has been a combination of not taken opportunity and unfair treatment. For me He has to play all matches in this tournament, at 4. Axar for all the criticism has a good ER . Would have been good to see Gowtham - I don't think he's much of an upgrade on Axar though- or more so Gopal instead it'd be nice to try another leggie.

    India squad at Asia Cup

TBF to Rayudu had a couple of decent scores in the A teams Quadrangular. Iyer has not been setting things on fire sadly.

    India squad at Asia Cup

Very unfortunate how it is scheduled this is big tournament and would be good to send full squad. What is the next series after Asia Cup? Home series in October? Perhaps that can be used for resting players. Shikar Rohit Rahul Virat Pant Hardik Krunal Bhuvneswar Kuldeep Jasprit Yuzvendra Manish, Dinesh, Shami, Gowtham
  18. He hasn't entirely capitalised on his opportunities but also not been given a long consistent run in one position. I do feel he should be in the next squad. Fwiw Kohli should bat at 4 with Rahul at 3

    Agarwal Vs Shaw

What do you keen observers make of the Shaw selection for the remaining tests ahead of Agarwal. And more to the point, who is the better batsman and test prospect- him or Agarwal?
  20. Sooda

    Agarwal Vs Shaw

Last season Agarwal scored 5 tons in 8 matches. Before that it was 3 in 34 matches, idk what his average was until 2016/17 it'd be interesting to know. He's been around for a while but was well below average until last season. If he gets picked it will be reward for one spectacular season not consistency over a period of time like say Panchal. There is an element of judgement here too, I don't know what either of these guys are like but I have to trust the selectors judgement that Prithvi is the best option for now. And it's not like Mayank is getting ignored altogether. Long run for the A team and Obviously next in line and he'd be picked for an odi squad if an opener slot was available

    Agarwal Vs Shaw

Wasnt Thakur top ranji wkt taker a few seasons ago. Or in the top few anyway. If anything his list A performances are less good. So whilst Ankit, Siraj and others are better prospects he deserves at least a few goes in the A team Clearly Shaws performance in England gave him the nod. Can't argue with that. Would like to see Mayank in a ODI squad soon.
  22. Not a fashionable POV but Jalaj Saxena could be a good pick for home series' . He's the wrong side of 30 but from his record and consistency over the seasons is he a better batsman and bowler than Gowtham?
  23. Sooda

    Agarwal Vs Shaw

It's precisely that trait that for me would make him a better option for now. Older, knows his game better? Shaw possibly too young and needs a season or two more in FC.
