Trevor Bayliss: Series win over India on par with Ashes triumph

So that proves my point, we had an attack known for getting wickets and reputable batsmen (who didn't show up). Number one ranked side who have fought harder than the 0-4 and 3-1 sides who toured before. They dissapointed but are respected, same was said by the SA side.

Trevor Bayliss: Series win over India on par with Ashes triumph

Speaks a lot about the respect kohli's india has earned, although it would be great if they lived up fully to expectations.

    Rahane, a regressed player?

I said in my thread on moving rahul at 5 that Pujara should open and rahane should play at 3. Allows rahane to move the game forward and he won't get left behind with the tail like the 4th test. At 3 he will have to face strong pace attacks so he needs the game for it but a promotion could be the confidence booster he needs.

    Play KL Rahul at 5

Thanks for your discussions, i was thinking we have a really good slip catcher in him and while the others improve in that field we can bat him at 5 against the older ball. but maybe it is best if he works on his game and comes back.

Deadweights and Hacks in the test team.

True they've been competitive in 3 out of 4 games and won one of them, but they've not capitalised on several chances to win the game.

    Lets laugh at ourselves

No different to Jayant yadav owning england when they toured. Its bad yes but lets not exaggerate. India has had this issue of letting tailenders score big.

    Play KL Rahul at 5

Lol thought i was missing someone. Pant for Nair then...

    Play KL Rahul at 5

Its time to stop kl rahul opening. Put him at 5, let him play the older ball and we keep him as a slip catcher which we need right now. Shaw and Pujara to open. Not a demotion for pujara as we need him to block and build an innings from one end. Rahane at 3 could work as well. Rahane responded well today to a relatively newish ball. We need to make big changes because the current approach isn't working. Our test batting core is Kohli, pujara and rahane so this puts them at the top to face the most number of deliveries. Pujara (need his spin as part time) Shaw Rahane Kohli Rahul Pant Jadeja Pandya Ishant/Bhuvi Shami Bumrah

Deadweights and Hacks in the test team.

We need new openers. We need a spinner who keeps it simple, gets turn, bounce, spin and is consistent. Jadeja is perfect for this. Ashwin needs to be away for a while. He's just too complex overseas. Pant is fine he will only get better.

    Feel proud of some performances.

It should be 2-2 at least but india failed to apply themselves and finish england off, hence they paid for it.
  11. Serve india right siraj taking wickets with his eyes closed and not selected. Overrated ashwin flopping when it matters overseas again shaw to come in for kl rahul. jadeja for ashwin siraj for pandya.
  12. At least jadeja is consistent and would get some wickets.

    What can we Chase ?

Ashwin has to get wickets here and we need aggressive spin fields.
  14. Give pant time its his second test.
  15. India has been previously guilty of throwing away wickets. This a game where batsmen have to make it big. Pandya, pant, ashwin and shami should make some runs as our lower order. All down to the start we get.
