  1. Yes, looks difficult now but was a good opportunity to perform. Don't doubt his talent though, will surely play all three formats within 12-18 months.
  2. I think some of these players have a great chance of being selected in Asia Cup if they keep performing in the next two matches: Gill, Mayank, Rayadu, Manish Krunal, Shreyas Gopal, K Gowtham Khaleel, Saini, Prasidh Saini has been very economical and he does have good control. Unfortunately, India B games have not been telecast so can't be 100% sure.

    4th test: Batting 1st advantage

Source? As per below article, it seems it is conducive to batting and seems like a "bat first" pitch. England piled on 550+ in 2014 3rd test batting first and we could not save the test even though we scored 330 in the 1st innings. Even the below article mentions: But the Rose Bowl, where England will attempt to wrap up the series next Thursday, should offer low bounce, a quick outfield and a first-innings average of 40 runs per wicket and 3.8 per over in first-class cricket this season. If the sun shines, then the batsmen have an opportunity, for the first time in the series, to get on top https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/cricket/england-india-third-test-joe-root-alastair-cook-bat-a8503356.html
  5. link for today's match - https://hshls28-i.akamaihd.net/hls/live/566578/qas2018/INDAAUSA23AUG2018/master_Layer7/master_Layer7.m3u8 You can play it on VLC player if it does not work on Chrome. Khaleel's bowling - 46 min (8th over) onwards.
  6. Thanks, that Rajasthan situation is unfortunate. I think Pankaj is captain so will definitely play? For the other bowlers, what is the solution? Play for another state? While it is good to have a problem of plenty, we need to ensure we don't lose out on young fast bowling stocks. BCCI must plan A tour to Australia in November. In fact, it would be better to send out 2 teams who can play Australia A/B teams or even state teams simultaneously. Our pool of talent has expanded and we should try to maximize opportunities.
  7. Siraj looked erratic today. Don't know if he got carried away with the movement he got off some balls. I was expecting to see him bowl a tight line but was too wide and he actually got lucky with some of his wickets. Sincerely hope it was a one-off. Khaleel was seriously impressive. Good seam position and nip off the wicket. Kept pressure on the batsmen throughout. Easily the most impressive. Don't know if it is premature but he will be a tremendous addition to the test team if he can bowl like this with the red ball.
  8. I don't think we have any good ODI/T20I bowlers right now especially ones who can bowl Yorkers and slower balls at the death. Siraj, Rajpoot, Avesh were poor in IPL. Mavi is still WIP. havent seen enough of Khaleel in live matches to comment. Kaul and Umesh are actually the best options after BnB. This is actually depressing. If Pandya can learn bowling some Yorkers to go with his slower ones, it would help.
  9. Should be a good test for Indian bowlers especially if the pitch does not turn too much. Aus A team has Khwaja, Renshaw, Handscomb, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Agar etc.
  10. Should have dropped Shami & Shardul for Siraj and Rajpoot. Now, the only hope is that selectors will give Siraj and Rajpoot a go in the two tests against West Indies. I hope they rest Bhuvi & Bumrah for Windies matches and also that they don't play the likes of Ishant-Umesh etc. as they did against Afghanistan. But this selection panel has screwed up big time. Should never have selected Nair, Shardul for this tour.

Shami's bowling performance in this series

Even when he is in rhythm, he just can't bowl 6 good bowls in the channel in an over. Hence, the high economy rate. If the way Siraj has performed can't get him in the team, I don't think that will be encouraging for those vying for a spot in the Indian team. Let the likes of Umesh, Shardul, Shami go and prove themselves in India A games or Ranji. I really doubt if they can outperform the likes of Siraj, Rajpoot or Gurbani. We must induct good pacers performing well especially if they are in the 22-26 age group and have a good mix of youth and experience.
  12. Shami can't bowl 6 good balls consecutively. Bowls one on leg stump or short and wide. Just not good enough at this level. Needs to be replaced by Siraj in the next match.
  13. Bumrah and Ishant overbowled. Shami and Pandya underbowled.

    Dinesh Kartik has been disappointing

He is an asset in LOIs and I hope selectors don't confuse the formats. In test matches, I think both his keeping and batting were not up to mark.

    Mad respect to Indian bowlers

We actually bowled very badly in the first 10 overs. Champion bowlers hit their stride immediately. Shami and Ishant are not consistent enough. We were in serious danger of throwing away the initiative unless Hardik produced that spell. There is a severe gap in consistency between Bhuvi-Bumrah and the likes of Ishant-Umesh (and increasingly even Shami). Don't get me wrong, we are getting better. We are still not where we should be - guaranteed disciplined start every time. May be guys like Siraj or Rajpoot can fill those gaps. Test match bowling is about good disciplined bowling in the channel. It is not about trying magic balls and spraying it all around.
