  1. of all the WI greats, Holding is one that carries a chip on his shoulder. You hear Roberts, Garner, Lloyd, Viv, Croft, etc and you get more humility and praise for the Indian players. I am not sure if he is just a grumpy old man or something that has ticked him off in the past. He has poo-pooed my idol who played against him and has had some success when rest of Indian batting was far worse. Now which chewtiya donwplays the ONLY Litte Master??
  2. SRT technically is a more complete player, but Virat plays a more wider array of shots (especially the frequency of hooks/pulls). Virat is more clutch and he keeps this up he will surpass all of SRT's ODI records. SRT probably played better bowlers, but the art of ODI bowling has been perfected a bit more in Virat's time (slower balls, slower bouncers, knuckle balls, etc.), but this difference not as much compared to Viv's time. I think SRT set the stage in terms of modern day ODI batting and Virat is taking it to another level.
  3. King Kohli vs Sir Viv in ODIs

One fact that does enhance SRT's legacy as a ODI batsman is his performance at the WC. He played in 5 of them and in 3 of those he scored heavily - 1996, 2003 and 2011 with some clutch performances. That is indeed missing from Kohli's resume yet. Hopefully he will come through in 2019. However, I think he needs to be have a monster series in England this year to increase the chances of him succeeding in 2019 WC.
  4. King Kohli vs Sir Viv in ODIs

He is still 29. If he keeps his fitness up he can play until 38-39 easily which is easily two more WCs. 2011 he was too raw, but yes he did miss his opportunity in 2015. Hopefully he can recitfy in 2019. Batsmen usually are in the peak of their form at 30 and he is right near the top of his game now.
  5. King Kohli vs Sir Viv in ODIs

Viv is a ATG, and probably the very best of his generation. But during his time, though the quality of test bowling was better than today, but ODI bowling is different art that was not perfected yet. So yes, Kohli faces better quality ODI/T20 bowling now that Viv did in ODIs when he played. Also, Viv never had to face his teammates who were probably the best in the world throughout the late 70s and 80s. Kohli is only half way through his career and is already on his way to being the GOAT in the shorter format. His numbers are just staggering and his record in clutch is proven over and over again. We are not talking about tests here, where has some ways to go and people will probably complain about the quality of test bowling today. But in the shorter format, he is already close to surpassing anyone (or already has) who has played the game including SRT.
  6. How do you rate Virat after this SA series?

I think Kohli is the type of character who is not complacent - total anti-Indian trait. He is fierce, hates to fail and super agressive. I would take a character like that any day over a lazy docile complacent, but talented guy. Good thing to see is that he learned from mistakes early on and carried this team. Too bad there was no match preparation before the tests and India were on the backfoot right away. Any way, they dominated the ODI series more than SA dominated the test series. This was a thumping win in alien conditions, mostly because of him. So credit goes, where credit is due. He has already proven that he is the best player in the world in the shorter formats, and by the time he hangs up his boots (provided he keeps this up), he will be the GOAT by a country mile. He still has to prove a bit more in away tests, especially with the England tour coming up, but he has a chance to silence his critics for a long while if he does well in England and Australia. Given his mentality, I think he is quite capable of doing that. My only problem with him is that his arrogance sometimes gets the best of him. It prevents him from admiting his mistakes (not necessarily to others, but to himself), from introspection and these traits can only make him better. There is nothing wrong with taking great pride in yourself because you know you are good, talented and capable of playing awesome knocks, but when its turns into arrogance it is not helpful. If he can learn to control that tow the fine line, he will get better as a captain and a teammate. He truly leads by example which is a wonderful trait, but he needs to set different expectations for all the different players in his team. I am not saying that he should not hold them to a high standard. He should, especially since they are playing in the national team. But he needs to realize that their level of talent may not measure up to his. This will set realistic goals for different players, will help him back his players and they will respond better to his leadership.

  8. This Bumrah is what I call a genuine fast bowler India had played. Almost constantly bowling > 140k. And since he bangs the ball in, he looks skiddier than the speed suggests!

Get Iyer out ASAP. Horrible batting, pathetic fielding. Surely India can do better.
  11. Cometh the hour cometh the man

Rohit is responsible for two run outs. So 50% of his runs are docked. He did not score a century.
