Waiting for Anukul Roy to make it big

“Over hyping”? You probably didn’t get the context of the post. It was more informative rather than overhyping, I’m trying to share a name which has done really well in the U19s & at the same time hope for him to make it big as an all rounder. There’s nothing to suggest that he deserves right now, instead a strong feeling that he would. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. There are some players who do really well, when the others Hogg the limelight. One such player is Anukul Roy, I feel he has the credentials to go all the way & represent India which I hope happens sooner than later. He has been prolific in Age group cricket, picking heaps of wickets, did the same in U19 World Cup, also taking a 5fer but the limelight was on the quicks & rightly so. Even then I feel he has superb batting skills, the way he has batted lower down the order & even in the Pakistan game, it was his partnership which took Shubham to the century & India to a good score. The way he smashed Shaheen Afridi says he can bat really well when required. People related him to Jadeja but in all honesty he is more talented with the ball & bat than Jadeja. 3. Change may come if there are mass failures in an away series, which can happen with this Indian team & a knee jerk reaction can trigger some changes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Some of his old accomplishments show he has the temperament to stay long at the Even though nothing you can compare with International cricket but says something about the temperament. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. As an opener he can be tried too, I can see Vijay handing over the spot to Shaw & retiring!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Interesing thought though the focus of this thread was on the key batting position in which Pujara bats for us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I can only smile at this comment :) , it seems as if he is laxking somewhere , I would say let's try it out & see how he handles an innings. Pujara's value is being challenged by many atleast outside Asia. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. What makes you say that he is not defensive enough or less defensive than others, it's. Ot that he strikes like Hardik Pandya ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Wonder if the same logic had been applied to Tendulkar & some others, Indian cricket would have been different. Blood in youngsters who are cut above the rest is what I can say. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. In my opinion he has the technique to survive outside Asia too & he is not as flashy as we assume he would be, all his age group high scores have been on multi day cricket. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I don't know if he would be successful not not, trying out these kids for lesser tournament can be a practice they can follow, this way they can ready the young lot sooner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Who says he would succeed right away, it's about giving him the change & create a framework for him to do well, groom him. There would always be a huge gap in domestic vs international teams, seextors can start with lesser teams if they don't want to put him in front of the likes of starc, Hazlewood & that's fine, but they can put him in front of the likes of pereras, Silvas kumaras etc & southee, milne Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. He doesn't look assured outside off to me, specially in tough conditions, but even if there is a case for him it should be down the order somewhere as a bits and pieces player. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That's your perspective & that's fine, but let me share my perspective a bit too, during the recent IPL he looked more assured & correct playing the quicks than the likes of Rana, Uthappa, Karthik. He already looked the best correct batsmen in KKR & similarly hw was a cut above the rest in U19, this is what gives me the confidence to express that he should be drafted in the national team ASAP Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I've been following cricket for 24+ years to have some sense of instinct which tells me he is different. Obviously he can fail & so can I, but as I said sometimes failure teaches a lot, if he keeps succeeding in domestic for a couple of years & fails in internationals he would have to learn from scratch the nuances of international cricket.
