Stadiums ALWAYS look bigger on T.V. than they do LIVE.

For instance, I took this picture in PERTH (WACA) last year - the fast, bouncy WACA. People would be surprised at how small it is if they saw it in REAL LIFE. Also its a small stadium, capable of holding only about 20, 000 odd, the same as a indoor concert arena.

Same story for the MCG, it looks a LOT more intimidating if you watch a test match there. Its quite scary if you sit in the upper, upper areas ..

Really dont like the Ahmedabad stadium, probably because it always seems to be empty.

Yea, you may not be able to make out the players' faces but the upper seating is on the best places to watch the match as you get a birds eye view of the whole stadium.

Even if you sit in the lower stands or right by the boundary rope, you still may not be able to see the players faces ---- not talking about fielders on the boundary edge --- unless you take in binoculars or an expensive camera with large zoom.

MAC is much more open aka most of the Aussie grounds. Should assist swing bowlers more with the beach nearby

I saw Aus Vs SAF from the upper stands few years ago . Its amazing view .. there are screens for the replays anyway. The only issue was the temprature, it gets quite cold after dark especially if its windy and I am talking about summers , dont know how people watch AFL in peak winters from those stands

Scott Styris recently on his twitter praised Nagpur stadium. He was like "it's pretty damn big" and stuff. I hope Nagpur sticks to hosting odi's for a while..

Abey kharaab nahi hai, ekdam top class hai. It's one of the oldest stadiums, still doesn't look that bad, still has about 45,000 seating, unlike other newly built ones with same amount capacity.

It's like some FOB Indian saying to folks in U.S "Malls in India are class perhaps much better than the ones here." Offcourse, the once in India would seem really good because they have been just built couple of years back, unlike the once here which are being run from past 15-30 years.

Agree. I went for the Boxing Day Test and it was really cold, and this was right in the middle of the Australian summer ! This was Day 1 when the match was interrupted by rain.

Also, sitting in the upper seats --- I got Vertigo. It can be a little unsettling watching from that height.

MAC is more spacious than what it was, is what they say. I went to an IPL match, I've never been there before the renovation. Don't shoot the messenger

Transparent, if you get a chance to watch a test match LIVE, go for it man, its one of crickets best experiences.

Once you watch a test match live, you really don't feel like watching it on TV, well, for me at least.

watching a test match live in stadium is the best experience as a cricket fan. Choose he right match eg. when India plays Australia or South Africa or Pakistan. Not Slanka West indies which will bore you to death.

my best experiences were 1997 against Aus, 1999 against Pak, 2001 against Aus, all at Chennai. After these I've become an ardent test match fan who makes it a point to take 3 days off from college/work (remaining two days are weekend holidays anyways) to watch all 5 days of a test match whenever it happens in my city. one day I hope to visit stadiums across India for test matches, like the Barmy Army

And your point on sitting on the top tiers for best view is very true. lot of first timers at stadiums immediately run to the front upon entering the arena to see the players closer. but the best view is when you get as high as possible above the ground level.

Yep, agree with everything.

I'd like to watch a test match in every major cricket playing country. I watched quite a few matches in Australia, next, I'd like to watch some in New Zealand. I'd like to time my visit to India for a test series.

Here are some more pictures I took at the WACA last year.

Indian grounds should have some of the open grass seating areas.

new wankhede looks EXCELLENT. is it being built by a private company, i.e. larsen or DLF?

it has that MCG style look.

then again, the charm of the old wankhede was the tight, packed crowds close to the field, which could generate huge noise and get under the skin of opposition players.

dont think we will get that here...

wankhade looks great. hope they play all their IPL matches here.
since the roof is very much high above the stands, will it provide enough shelter to spectators against sun and when it rains?

couple of weeks back I went to mumbai. tried to pay a visit to the wankhade. but i couldnt manage to sneak in the way i used to do in MAC or Chinnaswamy. All I could muster was this.
