			Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved two milestone treatments, Casgevy and Lyfgenia, representing the first cell-based gene therapies for the treatment of sickle cell disease (SCD) in patients 12 years and older. Additionally, one of these therapies, Casgevy, is the first FDA-approved treatment to utilize a type of novel genome editing technology, signaling an innovative advancement in the field of gene therapy.

		<p>

		</p>

		<p>
			“These approvals represent an important medical advance with the use of innovative cell-based gene therapies to target potentially devastating diseases and improve public health,” said Peter Marks, M.D., Ph.D., director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. “Today’s actions follow rigorous evaluations of the scientific and clinical data needed to support approval, reflecting the FDA’s commitment to facilitating development of safe and effective treatments for conditions with severe impacts on human health.”

	This is a game-changer, friends! Not only for sickle-cell patients, but this technology is being developed to cure a number of genetic diseases, including Cystic Fibrosis, for which there has been no cure (only symptom treatment/management strategies) so far.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If anyone is interested, these podcast episodes (<em>I understand NPR is not a favorite here, but this is science not politics, so no harm done</em>) are well worth the listen. They document the journey of Mrs. Victoria Gray, who was suffering from the debilitating symptoms of sickle-cell anemia and volunteered as a clinical-trial subject, eventually becoming one of the first (maybe even the first) patients to be cured using this new technology. It is heart-warming and gives hope for the future of science-based medicine advances in improving many lives!

Many kids these days can't read and write telugu despite of govts of tg&amp;ap making telugu compulsary cbse schools are not teaching the language. Many parents are more egar to talk with their kids in english rather telugu. Gen z cant complete a sentence with few english words. I have heard same is happening with marthi and kannda kids with prents prefering english over their respective mother tounge. <p>
	While most of them including osho, srila Prabhupada (founder of iskcon) etc. specifically promote vegetarianism, people do not know exactly what Budhha said (quoted below) . Turns out, buddha also promoted vegetarianism

			He did not hear that it was killed for him<br>

	Spirituality makes you a vegetarian/vegan naturally imo. Not a strict rule but directionally as a society for sure.
</p>

<p>

<p>
	If you respect India spirituality (rather spirituality in general), you should look at vegetarianism with respect and possibly something to strive for.

	Here is hoping that this brings joy, brotherhood and success to India. Kidding. I actually want America to do well and again become the beacon of ambition and optimism. I figure this will be an eventful 4 years.

<p>
	This is dream team with dream project. If this clicks, this insane disruption can change working of governments and bureaucracy across the world. There can be for the first time non left institutions and strain of thought that is recognised and institutionalised.

<p>

A warship welcomed by India in the language of maritime friendship was destroyed shortly after leaving Indian waters, but New Delhi’s reaction remained constrained by its relationship with Washington. How Pakistan did what India could not

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>Islamabad did not possess India’s economic capacity nor its international standing. Nevertheless, it preserved the political channels necessary to speak with Tehran, Washington, Beijing, Riyadh, Ankara and Doha. It used its relationships transactionally and accepted the risks of mediation. Pakistani leaders carried proposals between the belligerents, hosted difficult negotiations and proactively inserted themselves into the diplomatic process.</span>
				</p>

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>This was not the triumph of Pakistani idealism. It was the effective use of diplomatic position.<span> </span></span><span>Pakistan recognised that mediation could increase its strategic relevance, improve relations with Washington and strengthen its standing in the Islamic world. It converted access into influence. Conversely,<span> </span></span><span>India possessed this access, but failed to convert it.</span>

				<h2 style="font-size:16px !important">
					Foundations that India abandoned
				</h2>

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>The reason cannot simply be attributed to diplomatic caution. New Delhi had already allowed its material relationship with Iran to deteriorate. Before 2019, Iran had been an important source of crude oil for India. A rupee-based payment mechanism allowed Indian refiners to pay for Iranian oil through accounts in India, while Iran used those funds to purchase Indian goods.<span> </span></span><span>The arrangement was not perfect, but it reduced dependence on the dollar system and protected a limited sphere of bilateral trade. When<span> </span><a href="https://www.thehindu.com/news/international/us-ends-waiver-for-india-on-iran-oil/article26914949.ece" style="background-color:transparent; color:#b71c1c" target="_blank" rel="external nofollow">Washington ended sanctions exemptions</a><span> </span>in 2019, India stopped buying Iranian oil. Thus, the rupee mechanism lost its central purpose.</span>
				</p>

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>India often presents strategic autonomy as the right to pursue its own interests despite external pressure and demonstrated that autonomy in maintaining relations with Russia. In the Iranian case, however, it accommodated unilateral American sanctions even though the decision damaged its own energy options and reduced its economic influence in Tehran.<span> </span></span><span>This contradiction became evident during the war: India depended on the stability of Hormuz but had spent years weakening its relationship with the state capable of disrupting it.</span>
				</p>

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>Although Iran does not legally own the strait as it is governed under international maritime rules and is shared with Oman, it has the military and geographical capacity to obstruct passage, threaten shipping and impose severe costs on energy importers.<span> </span></span><span>India’s vulnerability was, therefore, not created during the war, merely exposed by it. </span>

Iranian negotiating practices were often difficult and sanctions complicated financing and technology transfers. But, the outcome remained strategically damaging for India. <span>This is an underdeveloped asset trapped between Indian hesitation and American pressure.<span> </span></span><span>Repeated delays have also produced a internal debate in Iran over whether Tehran should continue waiting for India or seek a larger Chinese role. An official decision to hand Chabahar to Beijing has not yet been taken and Iranian officials have continued to describe India as an important partner. Regardless, the possibility of Chinese participation has repeatedly surfaced in Iranian strategic discussions, particularly when Indian commitments have slowed.</span>
				</p>

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>For New Delhi, that possibility should be alarming. China already possesses a central position at Gwadar in Pakistan. If Beijing were eventually to acquire an important economic or logistical role in Chabahar, India would not just lose an investment; it would lose the strategic rationale that justified two decades of engagement with Iran.<span> </span></span><span>The deeper issue is not whether China will formally replace India tomorrow. <span>India’s multi-alignment was supposed to produce exactly this form of flexibility. Instead, ideological preference narrowed its diplomatic space. New Delhi grew publicly close to Israel, strategically closer to Washington and economically distant from Iran. When the war began, its formal relationships remained intact, but their political utility declined, emphasising<span> </span></span><span>the central distinction between having relations and possessing leverage.</span>

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>India has embassies, strategic dialogues and ministerial contacts whereas leverage requires economic presence, political credibility and a willingness to act independently when major powers impose costs on Indian interests. By abandoning Iranian oil, allowing the rupee mechanism to collapse, losing Farzad B and delaying Chabahar, India progressively removed the material foundations of its relationship with Tehran.</span>

Nor is it a temporary return to Iran whenever Hormuz closes.<span> </span></span><span>India needs to restore an energy relationship with Tehran, reconstruct payment mechanisms resistant to unilateral sanctions, provide sustained financing for Chabahar and integrate the port into a genuine transport network rather than treating it as a symbolic counterweight to Gwadar. It must recognise that Iran is not simply an energy supplier or transit corridor, but a regional power whose decisions directly affect India’s economic security.<span> </span></span><span>Above all, New Delhi must separate national interest from ideological identification.</span>
				</p>

				<p style="color:#282828; font-size:16px">
					<span>Foreign policy cannot be reduced to friendships between leaders or affinities between governing nationalisms. Israel’s political preferences cannot determine India’s relationship with Iran. American sanctions cannot automatically define the boundaries of Indian engagement. A country seeking to act as a leading power must be capable of maintaining difficult partnerships precisely when its preferred partners oppose them.<span> </span></span><span>The war offered India a painful comparison.</span>

Meanwhile, New Delhi celebrated multi-alignment and found itself without influence when the region’s most important conflict threatened its energy supplies and strategic projects.<span> </span></span><span>Pakistan named the agreement after its capital. India could only place its hopes in the reopening of Hormuz.<span> </span></span><span>This is precisely the cost of mistaking ideological proximity for geopolitical strategy.</span>

	Lately I have been coming across very smart people who say they are tired of Modi and want a change. At certain level I see this and totally understand.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	But on the other hand, I get a blank look when I ask for alternate policies. I don't get to know answers when I ask for track of record of RG and why did he not take up any responsibility when they had power.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I think congress 2004-2014 was net neutral with three big issues - corruption, policy paralysis and internal security. In terms of trend, it had deteriorated.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I voted for MMS in 2009 inspite of screw ups in Mumbai. Because he has a vision. But 15 years later all I hear as alternate view is muslim appeasement, caste census and communist style redistribution. So why should a normal non aligned middle class hindu vote for congress ?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We know bjp and Modi suck. But what is your case for Congress govt based on policies and not holy family. What is Congress grand vision for India.
</p>

<p>

	What a comprehensive, logical, verifiable, beautiful religion!!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Gyan yog (Advait Vedant , path of knowledge - shravan, manan and nididhyasan)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Bhakti yog (devotion, God in Sagun form as opposed to nirgun/formless, bhajan, kirtan)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Raj yog (meditation, soft attention, sakshi bhav)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Karm yog (Akarta bhav, dedicate all works that's happening through you -the ego body, to God)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Read more, practice and incorporate all above Yog in your life. Listen to Swami Sarvapriyanand and others.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	In addition, Awe and curiosity are underrated, extremely important qualities. According to psychology, awe is the anti-dote to anxiety and curiosity is anti-dote to depression. Just look at any thing close by for ex. a glass, a leaf, a tree, sky above, universe all around. It should give us feeling of awe (<em>aho bhav, vismay), </em>as we don't know a damn thing about anything. The biggest reason for awe is that 'I' exists as an experiencer (Sakshi) of this entire universe, the thoughts, the emotions, the body. Try to inculcate awe/curiosity to live with joy and enthusiasm.

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Weighing machine. Old-fashioned scale is what i miss. One would look at the number and say this one isnt accurate and usually shows 3-4kgs more. Hate the current ones which go 2 digits after decimal.
</p>

<p>

<p>
	why do i need electric parking? what's wrong with the good old stick?

	If you need to send someone more than 2 messages over phone then you need to call that person. People chat hours on whatsapp . Why ?

	I have around 16 hours layover in Rome. I plan to enter the city. However, I realized that when I am in Rome, my passport would have around 80 odd days (not 90 days) validity before expiration. Would I be denied entry? I have booked a hotel at the historic city center, hoping to walk around Rome at night. Should I cancel the hotel booking and simply chill at the airport (FCO)?

</p>

<p>
	When we create an ecosystem where <strong>verbal sewage is packaged as “humor,</strong>” and then defend it with limp excuses like <strong><em>“it’s just dark comedy,”</em></strong> “<em><strong>don’t like it, don’t watch,” </strong></em>or <strong><em>“there’s a paywall,”</em></strong> we’re not being edgy — we’re normalizing decay.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	We’re signaling to the next wave of wannabe provocateurs that the <strong>fastest route to fame and fortune is paved with vulgarity, insult, and outrage-for-profit.</strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	No one represents this decay better than<strong> Samay Raina </strong>—  who’s managed to turn third-rate abuse into a full-time career.  He’s not a comedian. <strong>He’s a symptom — of what happens when we start celebrating vulgarity as wit and abuse as art. </strong>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Unless we bring in real consequences — and <strong>we start deplatforming these professional provocateurs who monetize abuse while pretending it’s art — we’re accelerating our own cultural collapse.</strong> This is exactly how societies corrode: when tastelessness is mistaken for boldness, and verbal sewage is not just tolerated — but applauded.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Below is the kind of trash Samay Raina helped normalize in the name of comedy, because per him "shock and awe " language is profitable.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Without the crutch of abusive “jokes,” Samay Raina would be cracking stale one-liners to bored customers at a mobile recharge shop.

	India is the only country in the world which the 2 most powerful countries in the world don't want to see rise.  They are rivals but on India there is a common objective.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	India is also the only country in the world that has land disputes and common borders with 2 N-armed countries -- if this isn't bad enough - they both collude proactively to hurt India.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Also as rivals- both the top 2 powerful countries work against each other --except when it comes to abetting Pak to harm India.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	India is the only democracy in the world - where during war time the opposition to the ruling BJP dispensation has a track record of taking the side of the enemy and their propoganada and psy-ops.  I don't think there is any other country on the planet where the opposition has a such a vicious track record as traitors.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	For such a large country with such large population- India neither has oil, nor natural gas nor previous metals to lean on.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	No other country in the world is so divided by caste, creed and religion.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It may not be apparent now given the size and scale of India - but we face an existential battle.

	When did Rahul Gandhi transform from a meek, reluctant, and almost apologetic politician—( famously humiliated by Arnab Goswami before the 2014 elections <span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">)</span>—into the uncouth, arrogantly entitled caricature he appears to be today?<br>

</p>

<p>
	Even during Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure, Rahul occasionally displayed flashes of arrogance—like when he publicly tore up an ordinance in front of the press.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	But with age, instead of maturing, he seems to have grown increasingly abrasive and juvenile. <br>

</p>

<p>
	Is it on the advice of his sycophants or perhaps he fears that history will judge him as the one who was solely responsible for sinking the dynasty ?

			But what is it that may take “some time”? Sometimes it is ending Iran’s capacity to develop nuclear weapons, something Trump previously—as recently as last week in fact—claimed had been achieved in the war against Iran in June last year. In other statements the aim is to disable Iran’s entire navy and/or ballistic missile capability and/or it is to bring down the entire Iranian regime.

			Nor is it remotely clear what regime change means to Trump and Netanyahu. “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take,” Trump proclaimed to the Iranian people as he launched strikes on 28th February, while this week the Israeli leader said that Israel’s “aspiration is to bring the Iranian people to throw off the yoke of tyranny,” but that “ultimately it depends on them”. On other occasions Trump has said that he wants to choose or approve the new supreme leader from within the existing regime, to succeed the one he has just assassinated, as he did with the new Venezuelan leader after he abducted Maduro.

And they announced this a day or two before Trump declared that his “very complete” war would end “very soon.”

			Government by obfuscatory word salad extends to wars as much as everything else undertaken by Trump’s administration. “There’s no art to find the mind’s construction in the face,” declares one of Shakespeare’s monarchs, and there’s no art to finding Trump’s policies and intentions from his public statements. Instead, to assess the likely course of this latest crisis, Starmer and his fellow western leaders have to rely on the US president’s past patterns of behaviour and how these interact with present realities. This analysis leads to three observations.
		</p>

		<div style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">

		</div>

		<p id="eipx6w6Zkyg" style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">
			First, whatever the rhetoric of regime change, Trump isn’t a liberal, “neo” or otherwise. Nor is Netanyahu or any of the leaders of the Gulf states with whom they have been collaborating. Having decapitated the Iranian government, their main concern is to render the successor leadership as weak as they can as quickly as possible. Hence the assassination strategy, alongside the bombing of military installations.
		</p>

		<div style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">

		</div>

		<p id="eN_dk_8dtaM" style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">
			Second, Trump has never yet fought a serious ground war, and vast Iran, with no evident preparation for the transport of a US army, is highly unlikely to be his first such foray.
		</p>

		<p style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">

		</p>

		<p id="eV7-2jSwjHdK" style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">
			Third, market reactions—especially stock market declines and commodity price increases—weigh very heavily on Trump. The longer the war continues, the worse the market is likely to react, especially given the threat to Gulf oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
		</p>

		<div style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">

		</div>

		<p id="etam_rgkowSq" style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">
			The best assessment is, therefore, that this particular war will soon be over, but that further bombing of Iran, and further attempts at leadership decapitation, will recur periodically for as long as Trump and Netanyahu are in league. If that is correct, Starmer need not worry too much about Trump’s reaction to lack of British support. He will soon have moved on to the next round.
		</p>

		<p style="background-color:#ffffff; color:#000000; font-size:18px; text-align:start">

	Shocking results that bring coalition politics back to the forefront. Can Modi manage coalition politics? He has never had to deal with not having a BJP majority in the past, whether as PM or as CM. Can Modi's decision-making process account for ally considerations?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Can India actually develop at the pace at which there was hope when internal politics also need to be accounted?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	How much weightage will allies get? Can Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu claim a greater share of the union ministries? How will they influence government decision making? Will they switch sides? How long can the government last?
