I saw him in DC last year where he won all the games and  retired before his quarter finals and left the tournament in pain to keep his body fit for the US Open which was to take place 3 weeks later. I had a feeling he couldn’t continue like this and today he has shared it with all.

 

Its sad because he is really a top fighter.

 

I mean any one who won even one grandslam in the FAb 3 era of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal deserves respect.

 

Andy Murray will go down in Hall of Fame for sure but a real sad end this. I hope he can retire in front of his fans in Wimbledon.

The suspension will be lifted once an order to set up a committee of administrators to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee has been repealed and the AIFF administration regains full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs. The suspension means that the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022™, scheduled to take place in India on 11-30 October 2022, cannot currently be held in India as planned. FIFA is assessing the next steps with regard to the tournament and will refer the matter to the Bureau of the Council if and when necessary. FIFA is in constant constructive contact with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India and is hopeful that a positive outcome to the case may still be achieved.

It won't be a grand slam if the most successful champion (9 times) at AO, 3 time defending champion misses out on his favorite court trying to achieve history by winning the most slams (21). Djokovic and TA have some faults but the Assie govt has acted in ways that leaves a lot to be desired. I hope Novak gets to play if not the tournament loses its shine. The only other star is Rafa. Med and Zed can provide some spark. I guess AO will return to its 90s value of being the least favored slam. In the 00s, they tried to market it as a "happy slam" but asstralia is not a happy place methinks.

"We needed a bit of luck and we got it," said team boss Christian Horner.

NO COLLISION
The race at Yas Marina started and ended in controversy but without the collision many had feared.
There were tears of joy at Red Bull and rage at Mercedes, whose fury was directed at Australian race director Michael Masi as the drivers' title disappeared so close to the chequered flag.
Red Bull, whose partners Honda are now departing the sport, had said during the race that they needed a miracle to win as Hamilton made the most of a quicker car to head towards the title.

A late safety car intervention, after Canadian Nicholas Latifi crashed with five laps to go, provided hope and it was game on when Masi decided not to let all lapped cars pass the safety car before resuming racing.
That allowed Verstappen -- on fresher, faster tyres after strategic stops -- to close and go wheel-to-wheel with Hamilton for the lead.
At one point it had seemed the race could finish behind the safety car as marshals took time to remove Latifi's stranded Williams.

"We were screaming at the end to let them race," said Horner. "It is unheard of to leave the cars unlapped. They wanted to get the race going again. They absolutely made the right call."
Hamilton, who had been heading for a fourth successive race win and 104th of his career, congratulated the new champion.
 

"I think we did an amazing job this year. The team, everyone back at the factory, all the men and women we have, worked so hard all year in a difficult season," he said.
"I am so proud of them, and so grateful to be part of the journey with them. We gave it everything this last part of the season and never gave up, that's the most important thing."
 
 

MORE POLES
Verstappen ended the season with 10 wins to Hamilton's eight, having also led more laps and taken more poles and podiums.
After 22 a record races, Verstappen had 395.5 points to Hamilton's 387.5. Mercedes scored 613.5 to Red Bull's 585.5.
Ferrari's Carlos Sainz finished the race in third place, with AlphaTauri's Yuki Tsunoda fourth and team mate Pierre Gasly fifth.
 

Hamilton's team mate Valtteri Bottas was sixth in his last race for the team, ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris and the Alpines of Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc took the final point with the Italian team ending the season third overall.
Verstappen's Mexican team mate Sergio Perez, hailed as a "legend" by the Dutch driver for slowing Hamilton significantly while leading earlier in the race, was retired by Red Bull in the pits.

The race hit immediate controversy on the opening lap when the title rivals almost collided after the Briton had taken the lead.
Hamilton was pushed wide, cutting a corner as he came back still in front of Verstappen who had made a lunge on the inside and seemed to be ahead at the turn, and stewards decided no investigation was needed.
"That's incredible. What are they doing here?," said Verstappen when informed.
Horner told Sky Sports television from the pitwall that there was "a total lack of consistency" in the stewards' decision and his team now had to "do it the hard way".

Formula One's title decider in Abu Dhabi hit immediate controversy on Sunday when Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen almost collided on the opening lap, with the Mercedes driver pushed wide and cutting a corner to keep the lead.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton had taken the lead from the start with Red Bull's Verstappen slow off the mark from pole position but making a move on the inside into turn seven.
The two drivers are level on points with Verstappen ahead 9-8 on race wins.
Verstappen was quick on the radio to tell his team that Hamilton needed to give the place back while the Briton told Mercedes he had been pushed off track.
Stewards decided no investigation was necessary, with race director Michael Masi saying Hamilton had slowed enough to give back the time advantage gained.
"That's incredible. What are they doing here?," said Verstappen when informed.
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner told Sky Sports television from the pitwall that there was "a total lack of consistency" in the stewards' decision and his team now had to "do it the hard way".
His team manager Jonathan Wheatley continued the debate with Masi, saying Verstappen had done everything right and he did not understand the logic.
"Jonathan, the stewards have reviewed it and determined that all of the lasting advantage was gained and that Max forced that position there. They have said they have review it and are not investigating."
Jenson Button, the 2009 world champion, said he was also struggling to understand the regulations.
"Obviously, in Brazil there was no penalty, but they both drove off the circuit. Max stayed on the track this time," said the Briton, referring to a similar incident at Interlagos last month.
Hamilton's former team mate Nico Rosberg agreed: "Max was a little bit too lungy and too aggressive, forcing Lewis out too strongly, even though he had a right to the corner there," said the German.
"Then I would also say Lewis didn't give back everything that he gained."

    NEW DELHI: Indian racing driver Karun Chandhok expressed his excitement as Max Verstappen seized pole position for Formula One's season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Saturday.
    In his column for the Times of India, Chandhok wrote, "After 47 years, we head to the final round of the World Championship with the two title contenders equal on points. It's been an extraordinary season with drama and controversy, crashes on track and a war of words off it, high quality driving but also some incidents which have marred the campaign. After 21 races, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton head to Abu Dhabi equal on points in a "winner takes all" contest reminiscent of the final at Wimbledon or the Cricket World Cup."
    Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen are level on points in the standings, with Verstappen ahead 9-8 on race wins -- meaning he will be champion regardless of where he finishes if Hamilton fails to score for any reason.
    "For the past few days, most people have asked me two questions: (a) who do I think will win the title? (b) will Max and Lewis crash into each other? My answer to (a) is, I think Lewis is the favourite because the Mercedes does seem to be a faster car in race trim at the moment and (b) I hope not!" Chandhok added.
    Verstappen was 0.371 of a second quicker than Hamilton, who had been more than half a second adrift after the first flying laps of the final session and could not find enough to close the gap.
    "Hamilton has shown calmness and maturity in the heat of the title battle. The experience of seven previous title contests must be beneficial, especially when the pressure ramps up towards the end of the season. Verstappen is an extraordinary young man who has more talent to drive a race car in his little finger than most people can ever dream of. He's only 24 years old while Lewis has been racing for 28! In terms of pure speed, there's nothing to choose between them. In terms of mentality, personality and experience, they are poles apart. What connects them is their pure desire to win," Chandhok opined.
    The pole was Verstappen's 10th of the 22-race season and the two fiercest of competitors on track showed there was still plenty of mutual respect with a fist bump after parking up their cars. Hamilton, 36, is chasing a record-breaking eighth title, while Verstappen, 24, seeks his first. They have had a number of incidents, including crashes in the British and Italian Grands Prix.
    "The clashes on track this year have shown a very different style of racing between the two drivers. Max is clearly the more aggressive and is willing to place his car into gaps which most people will perceive as being risky and even unfair," Chandhok concluded.

Not so much in the Compound event - although there were a few medals won. 

      Komalika Bari is a name to watch out for. She was the U-18 world champ. Now is the U-21 world champ. 

       

      The men's team also won gold although they faltered individually in their opening rounds. The Mixed team with Komalika Bari and Parth Salunkhe won gold as well. The World U-21 tourney had 4 categories of events - Recurve & Compound U-21 and Recurve & Compound Cadet.

Stan also couldn't celebrate the win because of this injury. Novak has done this before against Andy Roddick and others and was called out by Roddick after that loss. He didn't retire in the last match. He didn't retire when he was a break up in the second set. He didn't do it after his first service game in the third set where he won the game without losing a point. But after losing his second service game, he retired. I don't think the injury was that serious not to finish the set. I doubt this gives any credibility to his injury claims. I mark this as poor sportsmanship to Stan and the crowd by denying Stan an outright victory.

Medvedev and Thiem to play the finals defeating Nadal and Djokovic in the SF respectively. Medvedev also beat Djokovic in the RR and so did Thiem against Nadal. What was interesting is both of them came from behind to win against the players of the caliber of djokodal. Nadal was serving for the match at 5-4 when Medvedev broke him and won the tiebreaker and won the third with a break. Thiem had multiple opportunities in the second set and was trailing in the third set tiebreaker 0-4 but won it 7-5. I have put a poll up for what the reason could be.

Obviously Djokovic is the favorite. But Nadal is almost invincible as far as the new gen is concerned. Nadal can only be beaten by Djokovic it seems and to a lesser extent by Federer. I think Djokovic will end up as no.1 seed due to his performance last year. Federer has the toughest route to the final without even considering his age. He has to beat the younguns first which he seems to be failing more and more. Then he has to beat Nadal and Djokovic. I also believe Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Thiem and Zverev have a chance to be the first one out of the big 3 to lift the cup. They have to avoid Nadal though. From their perspective, the increasing toughness scale this tournament will be Federer, Djokovic and Nadal. I haven't even mentioned Wawrinka. Can't wait for the tournament to begin :dance:
