[ IPL Statistics ] - MSD vs Virat

I know it's not going to make any difference to both sets of idiots (dhoni haters and dhoni chamchas), but here goes ...

Virat started his career when IPL started. He was a decent T20 player (both IPL and international) for many years. He has become a fantastic T20 player only in the last few seasons (both IPL and international). He is at his peak now, and has a chance to improve his numbers further in the coming years.

Dhoni was already established as a player when IPL started. He always has been very good at IPL and average at internationals. His IPL performances have deteriorated in the last couple of seasons. He actually played better internationally in 2016 than before (not many runs but very good SR).

IPL .... Dhoni is ahead of Virat across all seasons so far, but Virat will surpass him in the coming few years.

Internationals ... Virat definitely better than Dhoni.

MSD was a good T20 player and a great odi player but IMO that time's gone. He shouldn't continue in T20Is given there are other alternatives and the next T20 WC is in 2018.

In odis selectors may need to take a call post CT to see whether he can last till 2019 WC. At the very least the selectors have to start working on grooming a replacement. Selectors have already wasted a lot of time by not giving someone like Pant a few games in the recent England series and should start doing so post CT.

Dhoni was never good in international t20s.

He was a decent enough batsman and overall as a wkt keeper and captain to boot he was pretty good. And it wasn't as if there were great options available either with other options being Naman Ojha and Saha. Now we have somebody like Pant and captaincy has moved on to Kohli so it's the right time to move on. Actually could have moved on earlier had selectors been a bit more foresighted. But what do you expect from selectors who persisted with players like Yuvraj, Rahane and Rayudu in shorter formats despite knowing that either they were done or not good enough

Kohli has started caring for IPL since 2015, just when Dhoni stopped giving a * about it.

That's funny because I heard that he doesn't care for T20Is or tests and only IPL from his fans to defend his lackluster t20I performances and lack of interest in tests..wonder which one is it? :giggle:

You can defend him all you want but he was always mediocre t20i player

MSD has become an embarrassment now Reflexes gone, bat speed gone... All he does is, attempted hoicks go for a single and he aggressively runs for a single. After 3 or 4 singles, he fails miserably to pick up a straight delivery and gets LBW.
