Khota
People wearing jackets. Must be cold down under. Grass is brown, no bloom on the trees. No traffic, no food stands, streets look clean. What drives Australian economy?

The trees are just starting to bloom, if you go to 3.37 you can see all the flowers. Australia is a clean country, people don't throw their rubbish in the streets. That's how Melbourne looks, clean all year round. Real McCoy

We had birds falling off the trees, and fruit getting roasted on the trees. Melbourne, Tassie, Adelaide can get very cold in winter, not Canada, Iceland, parts of the USA or even Europe and Russia cold, but temps can be as low as -2 to -10 degrees in parts of Australia. The things is the wind chill factor as well, when it is windy and cold it cuts through you no matter how many layers you have on. No air pollution, or noise pollution, in Australia we respect our country and we love our country by trying to keep it clean. May not work 100% of the time but we do a good job. Yeah, you convicts are quite the patriots, aren’t you? There is only one heaven on earth and that is Down Under. But what about your verbal diarrhea? Unlike a few countries people I can mention, who just like to talk about how their country is great, and how much they love their countries, but in actuality they can't wait to leave the countries that they claim to love so much. retired_hurt
Spent couple of months in Melbourne last year. Good city but incredibly boring and dull. Night life doesn't exist outside CBD. For most of the residents, weekend means trip to Grampians or the great ocean road because there is nothing much to do in the city. London was much more happening for me. You obviously didn't go out much, Thursday - Sunday is when everything happens, even on weeknights some clubs etc are open. We have some great restaurants from all over the world here, cafes, etc. Crown Casino is open every day and all night as well, so not sure where you went. Although I agree the suburbs of Melbourne are very quite, even on the weekends. Edited September 11, 2019 by OzGirl Real McCoy

Yeah I lived in South bank so I know all about crown casino and other clubs. And all of these are in CBD or nearby, which is what I said in the post you quoted. If you stay for a year or two, your body kinda gets used to it. Once I returned to Chennai, I found the weather to be sticky and sweat more than people who stayed in Chennai. I also didn't feel the winter was cold at all while I saw others with their fans switched off. What is constant is the amount of whining no matter where one is OzGirl and Vilander 1

True that. I can attest to that. I see people around me act patriotic but its all lip service. If you try to keep your environment clean here, you will have a tough time dealing with others' behavior and feel like the odd one out. I have lived in the US for a decade. Once I returned, I can't adjust to living here because of this. I have tried to tell others about people's hypocritical behavior and it had the opposite effect on them. Their egos got hurt and they would not listen no matter how nicely I put my words across. I have stopped telling people and only hang out with like minded friends. I sometimes feel like the man described in Plato's cave I tell you those people living in Australia who say their country is great are the least likely to return back I have told many Indians in America this and they reluctantly agree. I have told Americans the ground reality and I returned. Funny how things work out. You must ask these people who think their countries are heaven on earth when they are planning to return back. They will say this amount of years and you must ask them this again after said years Challenge their belief systems. At least you are still in majority unlike me who cannot make my point across. You ought to do it to save your country and not turning into garbage filled dumps that our cities have turned into. They will either return back or most likely adapt to Aussie conditions and stop their hypocrisy. PS - I have to mention that India has a rich ancient past despite my diatribe. I'm hopeful that it will return back and save our legacy. But I'm pessimistic about our chances OzGirl and Ranvir
