In recent times many targeted killings of Sikhs in Afg, often victims were women and they were passed off as robberies. All prominent Sikh leaders have been murdered, I think last year in Jalalabad there was a suicide bombing which killed dozens of Sikhs who were travelling to meet the Afghan President. It must be horrific to be a Sikh there, already numbers are damn low so most would know each other, and very passing year that number is decreasing alarmingly not because of natural reasons but terror attacks and violent crime. They would know by now that they are all going to get killed like the Buddhists and Hindus. They can't even cremate their dead because every time they do so there is more stone pelting and violence conducted by their Muslim neighbors.

In general Sikh dead bodies have to be transported to Pak to be cremated, the Afghans won't allow un-Islamic practices

The last crematorium was closed down in 2012 because the practice is forbidden in Islam.

If not India, hope these Sikhs migrate to Canada or UK, less than 1000 left in Afg, some sources say only 300-400. It is India's responsibility to take care of them but with all the CAA politics, western lobby pressure, Punjab Congress nonsense, looks difficult. Shouldn't be an ego battle, their safety is paramount. Sikh lobby is strong in Canada and UK, they must put pressure on their govts before it is too late. 

 

Also Sikhs must remember that the most idiotic and arrogant Hindutvawadi will be more tolerant towards them than Muslims in neighboring countries or even those in India where demography is tilted in their favor like Kashmir or (Old) Hyderabad. Moreover it is the current Modi govt which took decisive action in the form of CAA. Islamists, communists, libtards, ISI, western agencies etc. will try to use Sikhs in their war against India, just use and throw, Sikhs shouldn't be useful idiots for those assholes. Where else can they find safety and dignity? They can become PM, CJI, Army Chief, Air Chief, cricket captain, cultural icon, tycoon, IAS/IPS/IFS/IFoS officer etc. here, a well to do community, most of their holy places are in India, this grudge is damn stupid.

There is another angle to this attack. Haqqanis, supported by Pindi, wanted to initially attack Indian embassy in Kabul, but there’s too much security there to stage such an audacious attack, so they chose this gurudwara which is a soft target. Also, this gurdwara was frequently trafficked by Indian embassy officials which made it more attractive for Pindi because their goal most likely was to get some Indian officials.
