Why Chukhtar? I would pick Bombay Duckarkar over him. He and Srinath leaked runs like a bottomless bucket and destroyed our chances in the 1999 world cup.

He also played an irresponsible innings against SL in 2007 WC. All he had to do was stay with Dravid and manage the chase. He had better batting capabilities than say Sir jaddu. He scored a 100 against Eng at Lords ffs. He hit the best bowler of SL Malinga taking risks for consecutive fours and managed to get out the next ball playing another risky shot. Dravid looked helpless at the other end. In the very next over by Malinga, Dravid cracked 4 fours while still keeping the ball down. For all we know, this could be the making of his career if we won that match and qualified for the super 8's. Looked like he was not trusting his own game and played risky shots. SL would easily take a couple of fours given that he would throw his wicket the next ball.

Wow, didn't even remember that he played the 2007 world cup as well! OTOH, the super clutch Gambhir played just one world cup (50 over) in his entire career. One of the cruelest sporting facts!

Yeah that's weird if you think about it. He played one of the clutch knocks in the final. Its not easy to come after the first ball wicket and score 90+ and got out only due to team reasons. He wanted to destroy any chances of SL making a comeback. Unlike someone who slows down after reaching 90s :phehe: If he had stayed not out, he would be the number one choice as he would have crossed 120. I wished they gave both him and Dhoni the man of the match but the whole award thing is useless. Someone collected most man of the matches award and flopped in both of the finals he played :--D

Correction - AA didn't actually hit those 2 fours. He just swiped and missed and got out the next ball skying up a length delivery. Dravid was also talking to him during his previous two swipes trying to convince him to buckle down. RD was not only a senior member of the team but he was also the captain. He resigned I think partly due to team not following his orders and to concentrate on his batting.
