WI has charismatic batsman but SA have gritty ones , de kock n pollock does give Sa better batting depth. Who ll win acc to you ? Link to comment
Sandeep99
Ok let's do this - Greenidge >> Smith (As good as Smith is, Greenidge is in a different league) Haynes >> Gibbs (Gibbs really? Kirsten should open alongside Smith I feel) Viv >>>>>>>>> Amla (I'm lolling) Lara = ABD (wow such a great comparison this - stalemate i tell you) Lloyd > Kirsten (Lloyd is often said to be a hard hitter in Gayle mould. Now imagine such a player playing like a tiger in tests. Kirsten has no chance) Sobers = Kallis (just a treat to see both the legends on the field together. Fan moment) Dujon > de Kock (No way is de Kock lasting more than over against WI quicks and Dujon is a keeper par excellence) Marshal > Steyn (very dicey but have to go with Marshall) Holding > Donald (Great comparison but have to pick Holding) Garner >> Pollock (Morkel would make a more fitting comparison in a giraffe battle but anyway Garner is better for sure) Ambrose >>>>>>>>>>> Rabada (nice joke, thanks for laughs) All in all, while RSA is still a great team and may actually do quite well, WI still romps home. Not to mention Lloyd's brutal captaincy is only going to pile it on RSA. West Indies all the way all days and twice on Sundays. Link to comment
Sandeep99
I feel South Africa's true ATG team has not been represented here. Take a look at this @Ankit_sharma03 Graeme Smith (c) Barry Richards Graeme Pollock Jacques Kallis AB de Villiers Mike Proctor Mark Boucher (wk) Shaun Pollock Dale Steyn Allan Donald Makhaya Ntini I believe this is a much better representation of RSA and will beat West Indies XI quite regularly. Sooda
Think G Pollock should at least should be there, 23 tests is a decent enough stint. Otherwise SA batting is bit light. Link to comment

Fair enough... but disagree with the wicket keeper. When you have the country's best batsmen in your line up, you can go for a solid wicket keeper who doesn't spill anything. I feel de kock is very scratchy. Boucher will fully do justice to the bowling of Steyn, Pollock, etc. Not to mention he has some really good counter attacking knocks as well. Also you don't want to drop someone like Lara or Viv early in their innings. They will pound you into submission Link to comment

Its not that they ll keep wkts in england or india 2 of the toughest place to keep wkts. Link to comment

Gollum
From OP's choice of XIs I will have to give it to WI, they will overwhelm every side except maybe AT Aus XI and the only real advantage of Aussies will be in the form of that chubby leggie. Link to comment

Smith and Gibbs over Graeme Pollock and Barry Richards. come on. Pollock and Richards averaged around 60 and whitewashed Ian Chappell's side 4-0 which was a good side too. Its a shame they couldn't play due to the apartheid. Barry played shield cricket in Aus and is rated highly by his contemporaries. Ian Chapell rates him quite high My SA XI would be G Pollock Kirsten B Richards Kallis ABDV B Mcmillan De Kock Proctor Steyn Rabada Donald In the WI lineup I'll add Roberts at the expense of Garner in tests. Roberts was the one who started it all and was a mentor to young fast bowlers coming in to the setup Edited April 23, 2020 by Real McCoy Sandeep99 1 Link to comment
