  1. After the kind of series Pant had in 2018, its mind boggling that we’re still having this discussion. Let me clear this - Pant or Saha won’t make a difference in keeping. Both will do similarly with the bulk of the bowling expected to be done by seamers. Saha adds real value against spinners but India won’t be going that route. Australia will really prefer to have Saha in the line up. He is at best a 40 ball 20 batsman and won’t really be contributing with the bat. Pant is someone that can make partnerships with the tail and play those impactful knocks. Ind

  2. Im a huge Pant fan and would want Pant in every Indian XI going forward, but i have a dispute over one of your statement about Saha being less accomplished to Dhoni ,in tests he's a couple of notches above him Dhoni had zero presence outside Asia, his great double hundred against Aus has eclipsed his overall mediocrity in tests though, but no way Saha is less than Dhoni in tests Saha should have got his due well before Pant but due to Dhoni dragging his career in tests despite loosing interest was quite unfortunate

  3. Considering his past record in Australia, Pant should be an automatic selection as a batsman let alone a wicket keeper batsman. He should be in the XI. If he fails in Adelaide (personally I would play him in the first two tests), Saha can be brought in. Has better record than many of our so called batsmen (Rohit/ KL etc.). Also, I don't know on what basis people are criticizing his wk skills. Did he drop a sitter/ missed a stumping last time in OZ or even in NZ early this year? Because I don't remember any.... Further, what is the use of playing an oldie (trust me I lik

  4. Spot on. See, I don't blame @Bhoot that much for his perception - a lot of younger Indian folks who grew up during the Aussie dominance of early 2000s, tend to be over-awed by the quality gap in that team vs its peers, and mistakenly attribute a lot of false-placed qualities to that team. Once you 'grow up' and mature as a cricket fan, you move beyond the unnecessary glorification of players. Good players, even great ones - have their own set of flaws and less than desirable qualities. People are grey, not black and white as in some kid's cartoon or movie. I can appreciate Just

  6. Everybody is poor, don’t generalize PSU workers, my father busted 10-12 hrs, 6 days a week for 38 years working for a bank. If these policies are against farmers, why are there farmers organizations in support of the reforms and are threatening protests if they are repealed? Read the orf article on APMC that I posted. APMC is a liability on poor farmers and is helping middlemen and rich farmers only. The poor farmer was restricted to sell only in some APMCs, which is removed now. Now. a poor Bihari farmer can sell in APMCs of Punjab and get a better price, which Punjab farmers don’t w

  7. Agree strongly ! I think Bumrah is thinking along similar lines. Did you watch his hostile bouncer barrage in his last spell in the practice match ? Reminded me of the 1980s Windies hostility. Quick, nasty, accurate and some of them bounced neck high from just short of a length. Bumrah bowled lots of good bouncers in the IPL too. I got the impression that he was practicing for the Aus test series. The Aussie commentators were discussing about the aggression and hostility of this Indian pace battery. Bumrah, Tyagi, Umesh, Saini, Shami and Siraj .

  8. Our test batting line-up is filled with consolidators. Apart from Kohli and Gill/Shaw. most others will play slowly against pace bowling. Pink ball test matches provide periods of unplayable bowling and periods of easy batting. Which is why it is important to cash in on the easy periods with some quick runs. Pant should be played ... and sent during those easy periods to get as many runs as possible. While the batters with good defenses and leaves should be used to tide over the difficult periods. A batting line-up needs variety. Can

  9. They were super-petulant during the Lillee-Chappell days. Then, their team got completely decimated by Packer and they had a bunch of regular guys - not spoiled bratty superstars - on the team. No-names like Hilditch, Wood, Dymock, along with some better known guys like Rodney Hogg, Dav Whatmore and Kim Hughes. Then Border took over and the team got better. From everything I saw Border was a tough-as-nails, high-character guy. No mercy, but no cheating and no petulance. Then came Steve Waugh's reign and things went to hell again with their behaviors. Got worse under Ponting, Langer, McG

  10. Best thing about the series is if we win, we celebrate. If we lose we have more than enough material for a few solid rants against Virat, Shastri, selection, BCCI, XYZ player, home umpires, Bhogle etc. Somehow I get the feeling selection will provide a lot of comedy content in the coming 35 odd days.

  11. After the first 2 odis, I thought this is going to be a repeat of 1999-2000 or 2011-2012 but the way our players fought in the T20 series and the final Odi and watching Aussie bench strength in the warmups, Aussies look undercooked. Starc looks average and Cummins too is not at his best. Lyon and Hazelwood are threats but nothing earth shattering. Warner is out and Smith seems to have injury issues. Labuschagne is talented but he is not in the league of Rahul,Gill. The way Aussies have been getting concussed, our bowling may be too hot to handle and above al

  13. In the last 3 years, the top score. home or away, by an Indian WK batsman not named Pant is 24 (by Saha)! Out of the top 15 scores, 14 of them are by Pant. But as per the TM, he is not good enough.

  14. Harsh, avg 30+, 3 100s including one outside Asia which Dhoni never managed in his career in any format. Also his twin 50s on Eden greentop (2016, remember Bhuvi's 5fer?) against Boult and co was special, got MOM for his batting. Sure he isn't as accomplished with the bat as Dhoni/Pant but calling him trash is unfair.

  18. There was a different article in Aus media moaning and crying about how "shocking" it was that India bowled bouncers at Aus A tailenders. When in fact it was retaliatory after Bumrah copped a whole bunch of them - Bumrah is our main bowler and if he were to get 'accidentally injured by the Aus A boys, it would just be 'cricket'. The over-hyping myth of "Aus sports ppl" is often at odds with the actual facts.

If we have ISPR and Pakistani PM FM making hate India, hate Hindu type speeches daily on official channel while lieing to their public about what their army is doing to their nation ( earlier it was renting the nation, now its leasing the nation) someone needs to show mirror to Bakis GoI doesn’t cares what Pakistan says

  23. The irony, protests to protect poor farmers lead by state with the highest farmer incomes whilst states with lowest farmer incomes not protesting and supporting reforms. It's always difficult to come off the dole when so chronically reliant on handouts for years.

  24. Very interesting. I stopped following tennis regularly a long time ago. Their cricketers too - they play hard and verbally punch hard, but as soon as someone punches back, they scream victim and the level of their play deteriorates too. For the longest time, Indian cricketers rolled over and played dead when they copped abuse from the Ozzies (with some Sunny exceptions), but glad that is not the case any more. Am getting psyched for this series. I just hope India can get off to a flying start - no first test, first day blues please - and play consistently well throu

BUMRAH in tests before the start of the Australian test series Tests ---- 14 Wickets --- 68 Wickets per match --- 4.86 Bowling average ---- 20.34 Strike rate ---- 45.31 Economy rate ---- 2.69 5 wicket hauls ---- 5 Fastest Ball ---- 153.3 kph 12 of these 14 tests have been against SENA countries in their own backyards. Simply superb !! Wishing him a wonderful test series in Australia !

  30. Maybe you are. Let us discuss merit here. Why was Adnani group so heavily invested in farming etc. even before the bill was passed?? There are so many inefficienies in the government but they singled out the most vulnerable segment of the society i.e. farmers. If they are honest why don't they fix Air India /PSU's etc. which are guzzling money like there is no tomorrow. Just remeber farming is not based on free market anywhere in the world.

  32. You love Oz sports people for their spirit? Go and watch some tennis then, bunch of supertalented youngsters from there throwing toys out of their prams, whining, bitching, crying, making excuses, just cos they ain't willing to put in the hard yards..... da spirit. Sure a great sporting nation once upon a time but not this generation. Even their cricket spirit is overrated. Bullies in their backyard but have to resort to sandpaper, brainfade referrals, non-funny sledging etc and not just away from comfort zone. And like Sky panel they sure do love to whine about 'in these conditio

  36. Agree. Before series i actually thought they might whitewash us easily but now i think if our full strength team plays then we might draw the series against them. For aus warner already gone and other openers are going to be walking wicket and now with smith's injury their only key batsman will be marnus labuschagne who has experience of just 14 tests. Their bowling is still good but like last series their batting is still pretty weak and far too inexperienced.

  40. Bottom line is farming is tough in India and super majority of farmers live hand to mouth. Moreover farming is not the only thing that needs reform pretty much everything else needs reform before farming does. Let us start with with Air India and any PSU. They need refoems before farmers. Atleast India does not have to go abroad for food but still have to do for everything that PSU does. Some rich farmers maybe doing well but most od these farmers barely make 1o K a month and that is not enough to live on. And for BJP to make this a communal issue is also very sham

Not to mention they the rockstars of the rugby world too. And they seem like a bunch of decent, down-to-earth guys (although I must temper this with my memory of Ish Sodhi and another Kiwi player's derogatory comments about Indians a few years ago).
