Because All Lives aren't at equal risk. A good example is if someone is having a heart attack and the doctors tend to him, and you say "hey, how come you guys don't care about my heath?" Its not that the doctors don't care about your health, its that your health is fine right now and not as much of a priority as the guy who's almost dead.

Why not?  It is actually a decent analogy.

An American football player explained it recently.  If two guys are hurt during the course of play and the physios rush to the guy who is lying paralyzed on the ground rather than the guy who is bleeding in his knee, it doesn't mean that the knee-guy doesn't matter.  He matters as much, but right now, he doesn't need much care and the other guy needs much more attention.

It is an obvious, self-evident truth that all lives matter.  It doesn't bear mentioning.  But "all" has excluded Blacks for a long time.  Black lives have mattered less in America for centuries.  They are making the point, and inserting an obvious "All lives matter" takes away from that message.  It is a nuance.

The point: a hypocrite is a hypocrite is a hypocrite... he won't say bimaru is offensive... I guess 'bimaru' states should start calling AP/Telangana 'phattu' state for being ruled by minority when their surrounding states were not....what a harmonious atmosphere it will create in the country.

You are a respectable poster. I mostly would agree with what you say without even reading...but Hindi is the defacto national language...not 1/3rd not 2/3rd....nearly 3/3rd meaning nearly entire country understands and speaks basic hindi ...

Modi (a gujju) addresses the entire nation in Hindi only. Everyone understands... except I think some Tamils.. nothing against them also obviously

Hindi is NOT the fukcing National language. it is the official language of communication of the Central government, apart from English, that’s all. Spoken by one third of population, don’t count people in WB, Oriya, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab as they might know Hindi, but they prefer to develop their local language over Hindi and will not accept imposition.

The answer to the OP is mostly indifference and fukcall attitude of some North Indians displayed by some exhibits above. There was a protest in interior Karnataka when a Branch Manager yelled at a local for not knowing the National language Hindi. Banks need businesses of local people and look at the attitude of this manager to expect locals to know Hindi or English to come to the bank.

Why would I need to learn anything about the natives when work takes me to their land on a mission - however long the stay may turn out to be?

Looks like the tide is turning in BCCI politics. For long Gavaskar and Co. managed to keep Kapil in the Persona Non Grata list. For this first time this year, we saw Gavaskar relegated to hindi commentary only and not being given a slot in English Commentary even once. Now, Kapil Dev gets a foot in the door. Let's see how things develop further. Hopefully new minds will bring new changes and better results. time will tell.

Absolutely, Paths of Glory is pure gold. The force of Kubrick's Humane Philosophy really hits you hardest in this movie above all. He enjoyed being sort of above it all, never really taking sides, in his later movies - As in Lolita, EWS, by Dr. Strangelove he had begun to see the Dark humour in the inevitability of it all. But in Paths of Glory the bright light of hope shines through as a young filmmaker wishing to open people's eyes to the sheer madness of war and the military as an organization.

Agreed. Reading about Kubrick, listening to his family speak about him, etc. it's clear that the guy had a lot of empathy for human beings even if his films didn't explicitly reflect it.

Prakat reacted to Norman in Steve Waugh hits the nail on it's head.
LONDON: Former Australia captain Steve Waugh believes that his country has the best phasing out policy for the biggest names unlike the subcontinent where it becomes difficult to move on once players attain legendary status.

Waugh was asked the question in context of the debate surrounding Mahendra Singh Dhoni's future in international cricket after India's semi-final exit from the World Cup.

"It's interesting. Australia definitely do that. It doesn't matter who you are because you have got to move on," Waugh said when asked about Cricket Australia's retirement policy and his own exit from international scene in early 2004.

But Waugh, one of Australia's most successful skippers, feels that it won't be correct to equate Australia's situation with India.

"May be in the subcontinent you get a bit more leeway with 1.4 billion people following you. People no longer remain people. They become legends, Gods. It's very hard to move on," he said.

"It becomes increasingly challenging when people get to a certain age. Mahendra Singh Dhoni you are referring to is still a great player," said Waugh.

In simpler words, he's saying "Jab tak Hindustan mein  ye Heropanti bhagwan bhakti ka chutiyapa chalta rahega tab tak Dhongi jaise Buddhon Ko laat maarke nikalna mushkil hi nhi namumkin hai."
