Sadly no one has a spine to take a stand against these cowardly bullies  who shoot down good players in prime.

It is possible that if Merchant or Barry Richards had played 70+ tests against diverse oppositions, they would have been very good. It is also possible that they could have had some problems and would not be as successful. We will never really know.
In the early 1990s many people thought that Sanjay Manjrekar would have a more successful career than Sachin Tendulkar by the time their respective careers end. This happened after Manjrekar scored a century in the West Indies and a double century in Pakistan...but we all know what happened 20 years later. Graeme Hick was hailed by many as the best batsman to ever play cricket till he actually played a few test matches. Rohit Sharma is thought to be one of the best batting talents now and highly rated by many experts. But, he has disappointed in test matches for quite some time. Vinod Kambli is another such case. I could go on....
To have a longish and very successful career, talent is not the sole contributing factor. Hunger for success, determination to stay at the top for a number of years, ability to accept one's weaknesses and working hard to rectify them, mental toughness, fitness level and staying injury free or succeeding despite injuries, not having a glaring weakness against a particular type of delivery, not getting distracted by success, having the ability to play in diverse conditions against diverse oppositions etc. all contribute in a large way.
I am not in favour of comparing players having long successful international careers with players who showed promise during a short international career and FC ....for the reasons enumerated above. They may or may not have succeeded in a big way if they got the chance to play for a long time against diverse oppositions. We will never know.

Playing against 13 players is not easy you know. Whole world knows how Indian umpires helps Indian Players by giving judgment favoring them even if it was suppose to be a wrong one. Shame on you guys.

Please tell me whom do you want as selectors? Do you want to select the Indian team yourself? The previous Srikkanth administrators was criticized like hell before and people complained of bias and worst time for Indian cricket. When the new panel was formed the Indian fans were going gaga over them saying that the worst phase of Indian cricket is over and this selection committee is the best. Now you want this selection committee to go to. I hope people understand that no matter who heads the panel, the situation is going to remain the same.
I have been watching cricket for 24 years now and I have seen the same pattern with all the selection committees of the past. So instead of complaining about it and keep calling everyone crap and asking for them to be replaced just deal with it.

Tell me. If Muhammed Ali had gotten absolutely beat down, first outclassed then knocked out brutally in his prime would anyone have considered him the greatest? Scarface could be 3x, 4x whatever he is, I don't really know, know one knows no one cares, but after getting beat down and humiliated, winning LKC, finishing behind worst ever SS and LKC king SLICKR he can never even make anyone's top 5 let alone being greatest of all time. It was agreed at the start of Ind-SA ODIs FL that the LKC will not count due to lack of participants. So I didn't play half way through. And ofcourse you chickened out as usual
