We all know his age is not what is on paper, and that reflects on the ground. Probably the management and selectors know that as well, hence decided to move on.

This is exactly what I am trying to say, but it's not happening, that is where system is at fault.

In 6 years with only 4 FC and 20 list A matches, he has less than 1 FC match a year. just over 3 List A matches a year. Even T20s, including IPL 84, that’s 14 a year, max 56 overs only, In T20 a bowler only bowls 4 overs in not the most friendly conditions. Also, it's not about just quantity, it's also about quality. Someone who bowls 150 overs in a domestic calendar in T20 cricket is not the same as a player who bowls 150 overs in domestic calendar in FC. FC teaches you to bowl longer spells, it teaches you to bowl with attacking mindset and get wickets, whereas in T20 you can have burst of 2 overs and then rest, you bowl with mindset of stopping runs on flat wickets than looking to get batsman out as a primary objective. He is 25 now, this is the time where he should have hit his prime as a fast bowler for the next 7-8 years, but he has not played, you can't blame national selectors for not looking at him, even if they know he has potential, that is a call they have to take, but they definitely can't take it based on data, it then has to be subjective, and it is difficult fault someone on subjective calls. A selector's job is not merely to look at stats, data analysis based evidence is a part of their job, but there are other important aspects as well like experience, ability to judge a talent etc, it's not that selectors don't make decisions based on judgement, they do, a young player shows up and they judge he has talent, selectors do and have taken calls in the past, but those are subjective and judgemental calls, you can't blame someone for not making that call, because not every call is subjective, they are often smaller in number, the majority of the way selectors judge is through talent and how has he/she performed, what are their numbers, where have they played, agains which opposition, in what conditions etc, and then they take the call, in that circumstance a player is doing exceedingly well and is talented, it becomes much difficult for selector to justify why the player is not being selected, but not when they just have to rely on judgement. The point is if a player has had opportunity and their numbers don't match up, it's upto the selectors, if they feel he can do better it's their call, there have been instances where player did will at international level than they did at domestic cricket, or they can take a call, we don't think he is ready or not living up to potential, but that at least gives people a fair chance, evidence to selectors. You, I and others here might hope he gets picked, but the probability of that happening is low, and the question shouldn’t be on selectors, it should be on the system that is failing, if selectors become scapegoat, the system inefficiencies gets masked.

The issue is some are basing Tyagi should be in the team of raw talent and potential, but it's been 6 years since 2020 U19 WC, he has played only 4 FC and 20 List A matches, I am assuming half of his T20s would have come in IPL. It's hard to blame selectors for not picking someone who has barely played in 6 years. The issue is much deeper, it's the system failing with fast bowlers again and again, not with one bowler but repeatedly with multiple fast bowlers. It's really weird how things work in the Indian cricket system, If I am not wrong Kotian was travelling with the team as a net bowler and even selected in squad like a couple of years ago, suddenly he is nowhere and Saransh Jain walks into squad and playing 11.

It's a fallacy to think that everyone you back will/shall have a great career, sometime people succeed with limited talent, sometimes they fail with immense talent. A lot goes into making a player, supporting a talent is just one part of it. As fans you can only hope they succeed.

We have the talent a good number of fast bowlers in the pipeline, it's not like there is no talent in the pipeline, I would understand if it wasn't. Few I can think of are Gurnoor, Harshit, Mayank, Ashok, Tyagi, Tarmale.. All of these guys have talent, these excuses that they get injured, not fit enough to play test cricket is not good enough, it is your job to get them ready and fit. Mayank has been around for 2+ years now, why is he always injured, why have you not been able to play him on A tour? Why none of these are playing Duleep Trophy, why are they not playing on A tours?

In my opinion, Mayank is quicker through the air, so he is more capable of moving the ball in the air. Ashok is hit the deck bowler, his strength apart form pace is his build, his focus should be on seam position and getting the ball to move of the surface, I hope no one tinkers with his action.

What's exciting about Mayank is he was able to move the ball at that pace, his second delivery was unplayable and it also showed he can get the ball up instead of just back of a length, many fast bowlers in India struggle with fuller length. This is what made him more effective that Ashok.

Ashok Sharma looks like a long form candidate, he has a strong built and action, he has the basics in place for bowling coach to work on.

Mayank yadav might keep bowling at 145 to 150 KPH instead of 155+ after remodeling his action, which is fine if it keeps him fit and injury free, it is still express pace.
