asterix
Its not like CAC did not try. Last time too before selection of Coach reports were in media regarding Kohli and co wanting Shastri to continue now as a coach. But CAC decided to go with Kumble. Result is for everyone to see. The whole setup was a mess right from the beginning. The most to be blamed here is captain. No captain should decide who should be coach. He should only decide if he is okay working with selected coach. Or he can share his views to selection panel regarding the 'kind' of coach he would like to work with. That's it. Whatever it is.. if they've little bit of self respect left, they should resign... Link to comment

Actually they all should resign including dravid and zak. No point now going ahead. Shastri should have full responsibility. asterix 1 Link to comment

Shastri gets mocked by lot of people but he has imparted toughness to this team. He selected a team of coaches like Arun who he has known from under 23 days. Is he a blow hard yes but he is far a better coach than lot of other coaches. Link to comment

But he needs to bring in pacers with low bowling averages, to support Bumrah in ODIs. We need to focus on bowling attacking lines and lengths in the first 10 to 12 overs of ODIs too. I think the newer crop of bowler like Nagarkoti and others needs to be fast forwarded to odis during homeseason. They will have enough time till next world cup. Link to comment
maniac
Shastri needs Bharat Arun because he is the only guy who knows a thing or 2 about coaching. He needs Sridhar because he is actually very good with guys who come from a under privileged background like Natarajan or Siraj and is very friendly with the team almost lien a bridge between management and players. That is why these guys are indispensable. There is a reason why Bangar was the only guy who lost his job and soon if Rathour doesn’t become a part of this circle or show utility he is the next to go. Shastri’s strength is his way of handling the media and how generally good rapport with all the big wigs of Indian cricket. He is a smart guy I will give him that. He did think through the team he wanted. Edited January 18, 2021 by maniac Link to comment
