CC1981 Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I think this site would literally explode into activity ( and ravi, if you are interested, just basic revenue from adverts - enough to say pay for itself and have a lil bit left over for upgrades down the road) if we simply got rid of the 'cricket' being the focal point and made it just an Indian messageboard. It is already happening- the backroom generates significant activity and i am sure there are others like me who live in the backroom a lot more than the front. Cricket can always remain an integal part of the website, but it is the OT section that has a lot of potential- though it'd require some heavy and neutral moderating to keep the flame-wars out. The addition of the dedicated 'news feed section' has already set the ball rolling in that direction. Though i'd recommend a slightly revamped moderator panel. ( And no, i am definitely not interested in being a mod, so count me out). If there is one perhaps less rigorous request i'd make is so that all the boards and its subdivisions appear on the main menu. It is a bit of a pain to access cricket videos by going to cricket discussions first or general discussions to access the news-feed.

I'm planning on making all forums accessible from the top Menu Bar.. (Where you see the "Forums" link in red, it will be a drop down from where you can go directly to the forum you want)

All threads bar religious mud slinging are welcome. We can make a separate sub section for articles in the GD forum for original content people might want to write like the cricket section has. So make a start on it.

I don't know this poster and as such, i have no problems with this person. But is it wise to let people use the names of international cricket players for userID ? Isn't it bordering on libel/libellious behaviour ? How long before it causes some sort of confusion in a high-stakes story ? I know this site is very liberal in its core but i think that is one restriction that it should have, just for prudence's sake: in a cricket messageboard, its pretty dangerous to be using the name of ANY international player as userID. Again, i mean no offence to the poster in question- i am sure he/she will understand.
