  1. 1. Is Hardik as valuable as Kapil Dev?

    • Yes, his contributions at least in limited overs cricket makes him invaluable
    • No, he has a LONG way to go to even elicit a comparison with Kapil Dev
    • Hardik Pandya is only hyped "bits and pieces" player. He can never be as valuable.

Hardik is the superior athlete. Guy is just lightning. But the modern game is unforgiving and he should establish himself as a full time bowler who can offer some late order hitting or he won't last much longer.

Like I said , his bowling was always gonna be his stronger suit. Should make the team purely as a bowler. Runs are a bonus. He is not a #6 and never will be. More like a #8

Irfan pathan is no gr8 benchmark in test cricket

Take his wkts against minnows like Zimb n Bang out n his bowling figures will look very below avg

He was the reason why India won Perth Test. Man of the match. Also the famous Pakistan series win he and Balaji were the main contributors from bowling. Despite dropping so many catches they didn't drop their shoulders.

i knw but his numbers arent still gr8 without minnows , i hope pandya does way better

29 test 100 wkts (with zimb n bang)

25 test 61 wkts, avg of 45 and s/r 83 only 1 five wkt haul (without them)

I mean as an opening bowler he could absolutely wreak havoc in the right conditions. But you have to factor in he had to play against some really tough teams on roads. Australia was invincible. Pakistan had guys like Inzamam, Younis, Moyo. Also he lost the shape of his action over a period with nobody to guide. He played crucial role in some important wins for us. Irfan as a batsman is technically more sound compared to Pandya. Same way basic skill at the start for Irfan was really good. He was considered a specialist bowler not a 4th change bowler form the get go. He reached no.9 in test rankings and no.2 in ODI rankings with his bowling. I am not saying he is the benchmark. But Pandya has to cross him before even dreaming about becoming a Kapil dev. There is one and only Kapil nobody can come close to him. Great bowler/batsman/fielder.

No, Pandya is better technically as he showed in England.  Pathan never batted in such conditions.

Better than Abid Ali, Manoj Prabhakar , Reetinder Sodhi, Laxmiratan Shukla, Robin Singh, Vijay Shankar, Stuart Bunny and Rishi Dhawan in ODI format

Pandya can only dream of scoring 175 in ODI. Neither is he anywhere near fitness level of Kapil. Already injured twice and missed ODI series as well as Tests. Kapil was a big match player and won  knockout single handedly in WC. Kapil could open there bowling in both format and be relied upon to win the match with bat too. Panda is at best 4th pacer in ODI and a player who can score a good 50. Comparison of both Kapil and Pandya is funny.

Pandya has better fitness levels than Kapil Dev.  Fitness and injuries are not mutually exclusive. His injuries have not been fitness related. One injury, he had was impact injury when a ball hit him on the shoulder and had a fracture.  Kapil was not a great ODI batsman.  He also just has one 100 in 225 ODIs and averaged 23 with an SR of 95.  His batting in ODI cricket was more like Afridi's.
