Lloyd was #1 ranked test batsman at that time, retired as #1. At a time when Viv, Greg, Sunny, Border, Crowe, Miandad, Gooch etc were active. Number one at the age of 40!!!!!!

Plus the whirlwind match winning 100 in the finals of the maiden World cup. One of the greatest ODI innings considering the situation & opposition. A very underrated player of that generation.

Also destroyed India's legendary spin quartet on Indian pitches. We would have won that epic 1974-75 series (more famous for GR Viswanath's feats) against WI if not for him, scored 650 runs and instrumental in 2 wins including decider.

I can't forget his double hundred. What was bad that knock was played against us. Enjoyed watching him bat in that series, although watching Richards, Kanhaiya and Kalicharan was what our generation was more interested in.

Roy Fredericks was great to watch as well ..The most iconic hit wicket in cricket

Fredricks got returned hurt as he twisted his ankle while trying to play Chandra. That was the first test. Didn't do much in that test.

His best was when he scored a ton in just 3 and half hours. But Bedi, the best spinner of those times was also injured and did not bowl much. But as soon as Bedi got back on field after break ,Bedi took Fredricks wicket. Have to say though that Fredricks had caused the damage till then.

Had you ever watched Kallicharran"s batting? By the time I started watching cricket, he was already out of the WI team. There's highlights of the famous 75 against the Aussies in the 1975 world cup game where he took Dennis Lillee to the cleaners but nothing else. Just curious to hear from someone who watched him live.

Very similar players , both small left handers ,  liked pulling and cutting but Alvin K was a much better all round batsman .

Kalicharran was good to watch. He had quick footwork and quick reflexes. That knock against Lillee is very famous. Very good against spin too. Played some wonderful knocks against India when they toured here. Had a good series.
