This issue arises because we have or had too many condition specific players in our test match player pool ... like Ashwin, Jadeja, Umesh, Ishant, Rahane, Rohit, Dhawan. Even Pujara used to be one before his successful tour of Australia. No serious fan questions the place of Kohli, Bumrah. Shami, Kuldeep, current day Pujara after a few failures. Or questioned the inclusion of Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Srinath etc.if they failed a few times. This is because they are / were all-condition players. We need to move towards playing as many all-condition players as possible ... with maybe just one or two condition specific top bowlers.
