Gollum Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Even Ashwin at 25 was a better fielder/catcher/mover than this guy. And Ashwin himself was a sloth.

So far he has hit most sixes against short ball than even Rohit in the last 12 months or so. In England at the oval. Now this.
Sooda Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) 8 hours ago, Lord said: not a T20 cricketer That was my thinking too, said it lots of times before But His hitting ability had clearly improved, we saw it in England also In the last IPL he his sr was 166 in only 5 innings ... innings included 49 off 29 balls Vs SRH and 48 off 24 balls Vs MI Bumrah, Boult etc He's always been a clever bowler and certainly is one who could be tried Vs Rhb too tbh as he gives it revs and gets drift, improved a lot of late to his credit Maybe we are wrong and he deserves his spot. Gollum Posted November 3 Posted November 3 8 hours ago, Lord said: not a T20 cricketer Correct. It is just that he is so talented that once in a while he can look untouchable even in his weakest format. I want Parag in his place, he is made for this kind of role.
Gollum Posted November 3 Posted November 3 8 hours ago, Lord said: Is it the diet? Dunno man, just the body type I guess, slow twitch fibres. These guys may have more endurance but less top speed, agility. Ashwin used to clear yo-yo test with ease, and that tests endurance. Lord 1

He is only coming in place KUldeep. Not a batsman's spot. So his runs are a bonus. If anything slowly he may replace Axar too who ihas this knack of constructing an innings by rotating strike in between hitting six. But Sundar clearly have higher ceiling as he has some unusual shots.
cowboysfan Posted November 3 Posted November 3 so we don't trust him to bowl, are we picking him for batting only? if so then I would pick Rinku before him, atleast Rinku is a reliable fielder.
ShoonyaSifar Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Imagine being called you are not a T20 cricketer after effortlessly winning a difficult T20I chase for your team. Didn't bowl yesterday but he can open the bowling and bowl at the death. Is a defensive bowler but difficult to hit. With the bat, has hardly batted above 7/8. I hope the TM trusts him more. Could be a great replacement for Jadeja in the T20 WC squads. Only one downside of him playing LOIs is he doesn't get to play enough domestic cricket, which is critical for his development as a test cricketer. Forever Indian 1

crictime Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Quick calculation this. Hope not much deviation in numbers. Washington Sundar - Overs per bowling innings. Test - 12 overs ODI - 7 overs T20i - 3 overs
bsriharsha Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Bit rich of Harbhajan to say that Sundar doesn't spin the ball when bhajji bowled mostly darts and overspin after his action was reworked (primarily because of the fear that he would be called for chucking) Vk1 and Lord 2

Think tank does not has enough confidence in him, either as a batsman or bowler.
